You just come to the lake and grab fish with fishing pole, they were already catched by lake, same as tide pool but with hands.

Lake is where fish lives. Tidepool is not where fish lives.

Same goes with fishing rod or fishing net, fishes dont live inside fishing nets so picking them from nets shouldn't count as a catch.

You build a place net yourself, so this net is extension of your catching. Just as fishing rod is extension of catching.

Lake is where fish lives. Tidepool is not where fish lives.

You're misunderstanding his point.

+1 was disappointed when it didn't work in the first place.

Why should a net count if a tidepool doesn't?

You build and place the net, you do not build or place the tide pool.

But then, we don't place lakes and yet catching fish from lakes counts as catch.

Of course. Fish lives in lake and you take him from here.

The same convoluted logic can be applied to the lake. The term here is "catch". It has nothing to do with who or what created the object it is held in.

I can grab a fish in a barrel IRL and I 'caught' the fish.

If I catch a fish in a tidepool it should be caught

So "catching" stuff outside their main living environment is sufficient condition of not counting catch as a catch for quests? Then we shouldn't count catching squirrels and other small game if we managed to catch it outside their spawning biome.

It is not convoluted, it is very simple.
Omnipotent wrote:The term here is "catch". It has nothing to do with who or what created the object it is held in.

To decide who catch a thing, certain it matters who or what does the catching. This is exactly what we try to decide!
Omnipotent wrote:I can grab a fish in a barrel IRL and I 'caught' the fish.

Picking fish from barrel is not catching fish.
Omnipotent wrote:If I catch a fish in a tidepool it should be caught

It is caught. But you do not catch the fish, the tide pool does.

I think man with quest must catch the thing to be caught if he want to complete the quest.

If squirrel walks outside of spawn biome itself, this is fine. This is where squirrel lives. If a man pick up a squirrel and put it in my cabinet or drop it inside building and I pick it up again, this does not count. I did not catch this squirrel, other man did. I think mechanics in game already reflect this one as well.
