Who says winter is fun, try to start new character from accout where is no verification and subscription. Honestly i feel bad for players who start up at winter, literally cant get discovery points from 70% of the things, so it means hard to get first skills, no curios, nothing to forage and almost nothing to eat. Its like good first impression, and im 100% sure they would say fuck it and leave the game.

Seasonal crops and seasonal dungeons would be lovely.

THIS.
Right now there are two kinds of roles: those not affected by winter (or barely affected), like miners and hunters, and those who have literally nothing to do like farmers and foragers.

I love the idea of winter being harsh, so that you need to prepare for it by stockpiling some stuff. But that only works if you also have something to do in winter. For those with nothing to do, winter becomes boring fast; and their best way to spend it is by logging in just long enough to refill their study tables, and then logout and play something else.

We need a lot more seasonal forgeable, some kind of winter crop, maybe some other winter-only activity.

If the ocean froze, we could at least go explore other continents. But now, unless you live on the shore, you won't be able to get there with your Knarr and do so.

Also IMO the map shouldn't register snow. It completely fucked up my map

If beginner joins in winter all he can do is eat rats for energy, hunt small game and fish and thats boring things to do for 10 days!
We need more things to do for very first players during winter, and more winter curiosities for beginner -> cone cows, dandelion alternatives. Ants are ultra usefull for early game so maybe adding uncommon "frozen" version of anthill? That you can dig out but after ants leave they nest and start chasing you. And lakes shouldn't freeze because newcomer won't be able to fish.

Winter isn't that bad for someone who has a base already, for me the biggest problem is clearing the snow and unreadable map, sometimes you can't reach tile to clear snow becacuse building stands in a way. Because of this you really can't build anything during winter.

Before the first winter the game was losing about 6 players a day. After winter started the game started losing 28 players a day. Maybe the players that quit will come back when winter ends? Maybe.

Each data point is the highest population during that specific day.

implement greenhouse so i can plant my crops regardless of season , then i could play , otherwise , winter is so bad that even word bad is not bad enough to describe it.

gonna have to say this is my biggest problem with winter. let's just leave the maps alone. i would go out and explore or do quests but i don't want my map to end up looking like this:

The worst part for me is the transition between. Ships can't get through rivers because they're still icy, and you can't use sleds, and early world horses suck. Credos are bad so I can't blame seasons for them.

Most seasonal bots would be turned off day 1-2 of winter. The decrease in players was gradually over the entire winter. Sorry.

No they wouldn't, and no it wasn't. Snow gradually covers everything and increasingly prevents forageables from spawning. I have images from April 10th slightly after 1 AM CEST that still show plenty of non-snowed tiles around my base for forageables to spawn on (my area was slow to get snowed under). Bots gets gradually turned off over the course of the first few days.

The decrease was not gradual. I'm not sure what time zone these stats use, but Winter started on April 6th, around 23:40 CEST. Day 1 of winter shows a slight decrease, then a big drop on day 2, then a slight further drop on day 3. Starting with day 4, player count slightly increased, possibly related to proper snow/ice coverage making kicksleds viable, which made it an ideal time for trading. Day 7 showed a minimal decrease again (still ending up above day 5) and only day 8 seems to have an actual drop...but the data for that day is complete bullshit. You posted this on that day, and the number is not the actual peak player count according to the population tracker. This also affects the trendline, which trends towards incorrect data on day 8.

I understand the reasons for seasons but i agree that winter is incomplete and either needs more content or shouldn't limit core gameplay mechanics so harshly. I can also confirm that as winter came people started playing less and didnt even want to do anything. Its a boring time and ruins all farmers lifes.

Could we maybe have a greenhouse atleast that could be used in the winter? Maybe even have it have a positive effect on the plants grown inside it?
