For example, do you think the head of an axe is more important than the handle? Both are equally important so they should weigh the same amount.

But they don't matter enough. And as I said. It is not only metal, but all things that you can craft in this game.
Think of it as a positive thing: You get more gains from increasing quality of items that have quality which is more difficult to increase.

Really no reason to continue this argument just because it's obviously someone trying to slow down the rest of the population so they can feel relevant themselves. Also, you're original post did not say metal was just an example and didn't even lead to that assumption. I am glad you changed your story after you realized how silly it was. Like I said already the only thing this would do is make the game more tedious just to slow down everyone except top factions because they have everything already.

I'd rather see bonuses being linear while effort to raise quality be square root, but thats just different perspective not change in gameplay.
Changing effort to square root while bonuses being still square root would make everyone just sit with low ql stuff, only stats would matter and mass production, which is even worse because you can just bot farmers and cookers and just eat everything making titan char.

Swapping them is an interesting idea. But I would be a bit worried about things that only have 1 or 2 ingredients being op then.
