Also while some people would enjoy the extra effort required, I imagine lots of people would just give up on credos. If you want them to take that long you would have to give WAY BETTER rewards.
And while I'm not against it per-se, this would mean redesigning credos completely.
The month timeline I was saying was mostly as a contrast. Like the current system is so frustrating that a more consistent system, even if it is significantly slower would be preferable.
One way that I could think of to change the system would be to turn it into another arbitrary point system, kind of like something resembling the old LP system, but with some important differences.
Let's say you need 10k credo points to fully complete the forager credo. Doing anything 'forager' related would give you some amount of credo points. Maybe doing something that isn't normally efficient (like studying a bad curio) gives relatively more credo points or provides some other sort of bonus to progression.
Each day you have a pool of credo points you can earn, like maybe 1k a day. Then beyond that maybe you can have quests where you talk to named trees & rocks to recover a bit of that pool, to give some people something to chase if they want to cut off some of the time.
So there, a kind of generic time gated point system that could still fit thematically in that you are practicing & specializing. Obviously it would be an overhaul of the system, but I think it would be one that is better than the current one.
