I think these two statements are somewhat contradictory. Feels like your actual agenda is to just make mystic easier, not to make it better designed.
I disagree,
"Mystic should be hard" as a knee jerk response to every single world one of the biggest complaints about credos being THIS specific quest type is not a valid justification.
I do not disagree that mystic should be *somewhat hard*, but mystics current difficulty is purely based on how absolutely dogshit this specific quest type is for engageability, actual REAL difficulty and its measurability for completion.
Any quest that 80%+ of the player base see as an "instant abandon" should probably say enough that its just a shit design and either needs massively reworking or removing.
THIS SPECIFIC QUEST TYPE has historically been known to be one of the sole reasons people have completely quit a world. That should speak fucking volumes about how absolutely dogshit bad the existence of this quest type is for the longevity of the game.
