Can't bash driftwood, but it should decay within minutes.

We need this bad. Also offtopic, but KOed chars should be immune to leech damage (and another bug abuse methods to kill chars)

Longevity doesn't mean something is a good thing.

However, there really isn't a nice and clean solution either, perhaps allowing the ability of a hearth back before you take asphyxiation damage?

+1, not that it will matter anyway.

I don't think drowning should be a thing. The only good thing about it is it's a convenient way to suicide. Otherwise, it's just another noob trap and way to die from bugs/exploits. Change it so drowning instead applies a significant wound and ports you naked on a nearby coast.

I like this a lot.

Edit: It could be nice if this also worked for dugouts. Would also mean you won't get mercilessly nuked by deep water if you're a tad careless.

Keep it simple, stupid:
Narski wrote:Please fix this stupid exploit. It is used my malicious individuals boat blocking and breaking boats hence drowning the victim. No chance and no combat initiated.. Please fix this dumb fucking exploit when your game takes hundreds of hours to get anywhere.

http://ringofbrodgar.com/wiki/Travel_Weariness wrote:Travel to Hearth Fire: allows a hearthling to travel back home (where the character's hearth fire is located) from anywhere in the world. This costs static 0.1 Travel Weariness, but you can always travel to your hearth fire from anywhere in the world, even if you're at 100% or above travel weariness.

Or even simpler:

LP Cost: 500
Swimming
Swimming is needed to enter and cross deep water or the ocean without a Boat or Raft. Please read this page carefully to avoid watery grave.

I don't know how you even built your boat without Swimming. 500 LP, come on, take it, you'll like it. Now if you complain that you were "3 grids away from land" and can't swim back long enough - it's up to you where you AFK. But certainly, it is not easy to trap you amidst the ocean, as long as you don't AFK. Staying AFK amidst deep water and dying to a random trickster, who utilizes 100% valid game mechanic, doesn't classify as "stupid exploit" or "dumb exploit". It classifies as "someone deciding to AFK in deep water and dying as expected".

Problem solved.

kinda weird of you to assume a bunch of information about how he died there

also it's not hard to break rowboats, especially with several people- i can definitely buy that if they had enough people to trap him, they had enough to break it faster than the hearth time (and you cant hearth while in water)

don't understand why you would even link the swimming skill considering you don't actually need it learned to swim, and if you have even one person annoyingly blocking the way you're swimming this early on in the game (much less 3 people) you're going to die while swimming, even in a thin river.

pretty clearly not an intended mechanic to be able to murder someone without a scent or even the ability to murder, especially with yknow how hard they've made it so you can murder people

Getting "blocked" in a "thin river" just shows you're AFK. If they can't move 1 tile sideways they can't expect any better.
Why swimming? Because it saves lives: Toggle, HS, Profit.

Much as everyone starts proposing PVP revamp... There are other problems, other than drowning out of combat. And some people finally realize, only now, that PVP is not just about comnat.

read: you do not need the swim skill to swim if you are forced into water

disagree on the first, especially if you have no idea on someone's intentions or doubly-especially if you're using a dugout and they're using a rowboat, or any other higher tier of ship.

Okay :D I'd love to see how you block someone in a "thin river" with 4 boats without them ever seeing it coming :D And not able to swim out, even.
