Credo completion is more about luck and calculated gambles than it is about naturally progressing a skill that you already enjoy by using that skill in meaningful ways

This is exactly the problem with credos right now. Not to mention out of season quests, but that just counts in with luck.

It still has the randomness to it, but at least we have a choice rather than abandoning and doing it again and again until we get a quest that we could actually do.

This seems like a good idea to me.

As it stands right now, the credo quest system is quite literally the worst gameplay element I have ever seen in any game. At no point is it ever fun or engaging and at no point is there ever a test of skill or knowledge.

If I get a particularly bothersome quest and manage to complete it. Next quest? Harvest 80 pumpkins. If I just planted them, it's gonna be a week before I can complete this quest (assuming I even have 80 pumpkins planted). For no fault of my own, I am punished with either progressing slower than other players, or having to do abandon and make the earlier progress I did meaningless. So you abandon that one. Next quest, plant 70 cucumbers. That's an abandon as well.

You can spend hours doing credo quests and progressing and then have it all mean nothing with a series of quests you can't complete. It's like gambling but the only thing you have to look forwards to is the shit-sandwich that is more credo quests.

Easiest solution would be to give us a choice of 3 quests.

IMO the better solution would be to make each credo have a fixed quest line that makes sense for your actual character/village progression and can be completed regardless of your biome(except for wanderer). Sort of similar to the tutorial quests when you spawn in. I hate the feeling that I have to waste my time working on a credo when I could be working on something useful. Imagine if the forager questline gave you tasks that encouraged you to actually be a productive forager instead of wasting time looking for a tree in a biome 100 mini-maps away.

One suggestion I've posted in the past is to have multiple credo quests running at once.

If you already have x credo quests, you get another one in x^2 days. So if you get one that takes hella long to complete, and you don't abandon it, you'll get a second one running concurrently in a day. Complete that one, and you'll get another one in 24 hours from the time you received (not completed) the second quest (the timer starts running when you GET a new quest.. so if I get a second quest, and complete it in 36 hours, I'll get another quest instantly because the timer's at 36 and the threshold is now 24)

Hey, that's not a bad idea, you know? It reminds me of how the Numen Point system already works: You're given three things to procure, and you only need to procure one to advance.

Give us 3 (lists of) quests and let us advance by only doing one? Credo bingo! Sure it's still random nonsense, but at least if only one of them is plant 67,003 troll mushrooms, I can focus on completing the other two and not lose a potential few days of progress lol.
