How many times has Bob Dole given someone a chance when it seemed like they crashed or disconnected?

Lol, this isn't about Bob Dole, and it wouldn't help in combat situations. This is only about losing your internet out of combat during an outage. Even you would agree that losing your internet for an hour while foraging, and then coming back to a dead character because your character was standing there defenseless is dumb. Any random animal could kill you in that time, just by walking by, let alone anything else. Imagine dcing in a swamp and coming back to 100 hhp in mosquito bites, truly a marvel!~ there is clearly no better way than having that happen to every raider due to their spotty connection!

Having the option to hearth out of combat when offline should already be in the game imo.
Early world exploit: Put your hearthfire inside a cave, then hold shift to position a claim right in front of a cave. After 8 hours the claim will be unbreakable. Since your hearthfire is inside the cave, you can still get back inside, and leave, but nobody will be able to enter, effectively making you unraidable for the first 3-7 days. Enjoy

Obligatory, "your spotty internet connection should have a chance to win too"

For real tho, I also hate foraging on alts and tend to put myself out there while outlawed as well, and there always a mini heartattack when the server lags or my connection drops.

What was wrong about summoning on HF again, or what was better with outlaw?

You can tether the phone's connection and log out by yourself, instead of using it for a Discord call to arms.

What happens to non-criminals that also want to be 100% safe?

Not everyone has the ability to tether their phone, but the Discord app does allow for a "call to arms" as long as you still have a mobile connection thankfully.

Also, who is talking about 100% safe?

In the same context, a non-criminal is literally 100% safe, what do you mean?

Out foraging or exploring and a server crash occurs?
You will be safe when the server comes back.

Sudden connection loss or electricity outage?
Your character automatically logs off.

Outlaw prevents criminals from logging out close so they can login and gank from nowhere

Shelf the outlaw char and bring other combat alts to do the same thing.

It really depends on the situation, but outlaw doesnt prevent someone from doing that anyways, just the character that has it.

Afaik, outlaw is only terrifying in the case of random connection losses and server crashes.

It really is.

I'm not against this specific suggestion per se, but I don't love the idea of introducing mechanics built around connection problems or crashes. This would set a precedent, that devs might ignore or not, for future requests. Seems like a slippery slope.

Also in the dev stream loftar commented about the "automatic hf when KO" (that was originally suggested specifically for those who dc/crash) and said something like they don't want player actions to be automatic (or something along those lines). So I doubt this will get far.

Get a criminal debuff, then go into the wilderness and dc, then come back dead, then tell me how you feel, you bad internet shamer.
