Even if there isn't a set time, knowing that at some point in the year a world would reset would be great news. Something as simple as "A reset will happen something every spring" would work in my opinion. Me and my group of 10-15 players have been on standby for the past few months for a world reset, we enjoy the game from the start and progress until we can't anymore, and just chill in our hubs until the joy of the game dies down and people leave until next world.

I believe that we are not the only small group that feels this way, we enjoy the grind, especially early on, and after the first 3-4 months it dies and people start to leave none of us will have the motivation to play until a new world reset happens. An ongoing world it just unappetizing the longer it has been up.

It's good to avoid surprise resets, up to now I don't remember similar ones. Of course some major development may require a world reset, but it's been smooth for now.
It should be some meaningful timeframe that won't discourage absolute starters to come back, but will also be generous enough for the rest to complete some possible projects or a bucket list, before the world reincarnates.
As long as some kind of warning is made in advance, neither too short nor too long (2-3 weeks to 1-2 months), it seems pretty fair. Anything longer may just put people off anyway.

Giving players what they want isn't always what's best for the game. You're also off on the "traditional reset period", most vets I talk to think it'll be sometime in the next 3-4 months. You guys were pretty early in the waiting party.

While I agree the idea is nice in theory, I've seen it in practice and it doesn't work. Not just for haven, but for many of the MMO resetting sandboxes I've played.

a permanent world would be better because it would be more worth it to build anything in this game, and knowing that things are going to be lost drives people away from the game
perhaps the world should also be larger so new people can find nice spots to live in and be more likely to avoid getting sieged as well
and sieges should also be a lot harder to be done succesfully, and should take much more time, currently it is way too easy to grief months of hard work

but sometimes a world reset is necessary when they need to implement some critical change, a new mapgen for example, but it should be restricted only to the cases like this and avoided in general

I strongly disagree with resets being scheduled. Sure, the population peeks, but then the world is left in a dead state for the rest of players who actually enjoy the WHOLE game, going for credos and late game stuff. Think of them as the returning customers who keep the game alive, the players who are there for the long run.

Resets should be kept at a minimum as much as possible. Losing your whole progression every year SUCKS.

permanent world where it is "worth to build" is just a meme that they have tried to achieve for 10+ years, when everyone will quit eventually regardless if their builds stay forever. and everything gets stale. World resets should be a part of the game that is acknowledged by the devs and scheduled ahead so it most fun for the 90% of playerbase, the game is not ready for permanent world in any way and it is ultimately too complicated to acomplish for 2 devs when they are having trouble to balance everything on the way. Get over it jorbtar

Early game is the most fun part of the game. I like the resets. I have played the last 2 worlds all the way through, and I always enjoyed the resets.

Yeah I totally agree, I always play around 4-6 months per world, which at that time we have the credos we need, base setup, quests done and are just grinding stats and qualities. This game is very similar to those other survival games that do reset, like Rust, just a lot slower paced. Without a reset the game would just feel like a dying Minecraft server with only the minority saying it should keep going.

Fresh resets give a new drive to the veteran players who want that competition and compete for the top, compete for realm claims, villages claims, having the highest early game q etc. Endgame does have its perks for a lot of people, but a fresh new world with a 1-2 month announcement would be amazing, something for people to return to and grind hardcore all over again. Want to try and build a new village/base at a new location? By ocean? River? Mountain? Want to join a new group or start solo? Yeah, a lot of this you can do endgame, but it doesn't have that progression to it.

Every reset I take a week off of work to just sit down and grind with the boys (and girls) and have an amazing time doing it. Resets are one of the highlights of an entire year.
