Look at it this way: if you want to make steel, you have to log in regularly to make sure you keep it fueled. If you're raising livestock, you have to log in regularly to make sure the animals stay fed. If you want to commit a crime that can end in a Nidbane being summoned, you have to log in on a regular basis to make sure you aren't going to have to fight a Nidbane. Or use an alt you can sacrifice.
I see what your saying but they don't need to replace force summoning characters cause you stay logged on. Fair point about how other things require you to log on daily but the consequences of not logging on, for those things are far less then your character straight up dying. Also you usually initiate those so you know when you need to log on. Where as you need to log on for 9 straight days.

Crimes should be enforced by in game players not AI sent by lazy people.

You can literally cheese nidbanes.
Which is my point its unnecessary to force people to log on for 9 days straight. Things happen, one day you might not be able to log on, and boom your characters dead to a AI. Fun mechanic.
If you die to another player while offline, that's actually cool. They put in effort and sieged your base to deliver justice.
Its just so over kill to have a AI kill you, cause a real life event stopped you from logging on.
Its very unnecessary if you ask me.
