I personally adore crafting in cataclysm DDA and i think system like this would fit in H&H just right in few words it works like this
1) You choose what you want to craft and how many times ("craft X times" is long sought feature btw)
2) Game scans your inventory and close proximity if there are required ingredients and tools
3) Game scans if all the conditions are right (if there fire source nearby, a correct working station nearby and powered etc)
4) If everything is correct you craft desired item and put you in your inventory or on a crafting table
5) If recipe allows variable ingridients like pretty much every cooking recipie in haven it takes you to submenu where game shows you all the avaible ingridients and you may choose which one to use

No running around, no juggling items in the inventory, no need to carry shitload of tools on you all the time- you simple click "craft this" and its done as long as you have all the materials laying around.

I'm ain't saying jorb should copypaste this entire system but it is definitely worth looking into.

just add NPC for shitty jobs, who will make 999 butter & 999 cloth (steel silk &etc) for us

Modular cooker? As in, an object that is controlling other objects? Idk, sounds like implementation of something like that could take a while... ¦]
