What the hell, it only happens for hand items? Wouldn't this allow for all kinds of cheesing with scripts and extra equipment in the inventory?

Care to explain what that cheesing would look like?
At every single point you just want the highest AC you can get, most I can think of is switching steel boots out for bunny slippers with a keybind for some extra AC but even with scripts it takes some effort to keep track of it and not accidentally kill yourself by messing up (with PvP being so micro management intensive as it is), automating it is also out of the question because would you really trust a script with doing it for you?

Gildings are worthless in any real pvp scenario so those are out of the question.

That said, I don't think this is a good idea as a store item (crafted item would be fine) as it actually has in-game utility as stealth item; with this you could dress up like an innocent newbie while actually hiding a dhelm or similar. At least when someone is wearing a store hat you know that you don't know what the player is wearing; this would give the false impression you know they're wearing nothing.

How likely are you to see anybody who isn't labor alt with nothing equiped in head slot? Newbies are called sprucecaps for reason.

I remember once encountering like 8 people on sea on the second side of the world from my base and they KOd me because they were too dumb to do it with just 2 people

Many newbies wear nothing at all. Though the fact that people assume 'naked = labor alt' also means it works for stealth.

I don't use scripting in Haven, but at least outside of Haven scripts tend to increase consistency rather than decrease it due to no longer risking human mistakes. Is Haven scripting so sloppy that this is a concern?

strpk0 wrote:Care to explain what that cheesing would look like?

Not familiar enough with PvP to say for sure, other than going from apparent labor alt to fully-equipped warrior in 0.1 seconds, coracle insta-swapping (which last I checked is already a thing) and Bunny Slippers swapping. Is there no other situational equipment?

Wouldn't a custom client be able to detect you've just selected to run after a small animal and auto-equip the Bunny Slippers whenever you do so? Only switching back is trickier and would better be done manually.

Can't find it right now but someone told a story of how someone died because they had a waterskin with 0.03 liters of Spring Water left and their drinking script went haywire.

Sure, but with many of these things there are a concerning amount of edge cases, like for example if you're swimming (where bunny slipper bonus still applies and also its a literal guaranteed death if you mess up and someone catches you with a cleave and KOs you in the water), if you believed blindly in the script and stopped making an active effort to keep track of it, and it resulted in you going in the water while wearing steel boots with people behind you, then into view pops a bunny from the other side of the river you're as good as fucked.

Also what happens if your inventory gets filled up and your script desperately tries to switch boots out to a non available slot in it, or if alternatively the script isn't "shift clicking" items around but putting them on your cursor and dropping them into new places, then suddenly you get unlucky and click during that and now your bunny slippers are on the ground, or you already had an unrelated item held in your cursor which breaks your script, etc etc.

You can sit down and come up with a lot of scary reasons why automating these sorts of things would probably work but definitely get you killed at some point in the future, so most people don't bother and just sacrifice the AC for the speed bonus.
