In case the post above is not a bot necro, they later patched the anvil to show the symbol for "hard metal" on its tooltip.

There's a separate issue of hard metal symbol not being the most clear indicator, since if shows only two bars; Bronze and Wrought Iron. I remember in Legacy that quite experienced player was surprised when I told him that you can use Cast Iron as hard metal.
