if it requires sheep or even the drying of animal hides its not primitive enough you need a place to protect stuff early game you cannot really protect drying racks without a claim in a palisade it's a miracle most people even make it that far without being griefed

that's why a lot of people shelter in caves

I think you should be able to make leather inside it and dry hides inside it in small amounts you can make it take longer for balance

You can easily get yeomany day 1 . Trespassing and theft not, your hides should be quite save .
And finding shelter in caves makes sense . Not only from gameplay but also well "lore" reasons.

The goal shouldnt be naked alts building tentfortesses 5 seconda after spawning. Dryed hides are very primitive enough

I agree with alts and tent forts, however, there's also the issue that once you have dried hides you probably already have a house by that time rendering the tent a bit useless.
Extremely popular.

I've been in a few villages that put personal plots low on their priority - usually after cloth production has ramped up and banners made for designated housing areas outside of the initial Vclaim 101x101. It's not unrealistic to be in a village with 100s/1000s of dried hides and no personal space other than a leanto. A tent would be a nice upgrade from the leanto since it would have more storage and a place for a study table. Plus it can easily be broken down to make room for construction.

the idea is, before you would be able to make an tent, you would have too sleep an day or two in an cave, or an leanto or even an old animal burrow,(the 1 day those things have an use for, cause no bats)
but you could be up and about with your tent on day 2 , could you just have built an log cabin, yes. stayed in the cave? yes. and you would have some more hides too turn intoo leather for your palisade, but with your tent you are mobile still ,and that long before palis are up or vclaims

with the "primitive" tent we have today, you would only have your mobilehome after an flachsrotation or two, maybe sooner if your goatshearing game is A grade, and that is if you really bumrush it with priority

so you wont have an tent untill after most villages have there first banners down, including pali+ partial lanndscaping.

but hey, if you really wanna push it, just hide some tanning tubs in an burrow, and wander about, you can build an leanto+bed wherever you go, just contruct your shelter quick before it gets dark
