I was thinking of making a thread for this but ill use yours, sling pellet pouch for new character slot requiring string and hide. Craft stone pellets from rocks, and lead pellets from lead bars. this way shooting from stone stacks not needed as seperate item for ammo.

Not sure if lead as ammo makes sense unless it gives alot as the lead node I found ingame was tiny compared to the casserite. but you added lead so why not give it more exclusive recipes. plus lead ammo with writing on in ancient history is epic https://www.historyofinformation.com/de ... tryid=2485

This might not fit with "muh immersion" but:

Slings have a niche enough use (super early taming + birds) that I see no issue giving them an infinite ammo pouch. I'd keep them to clay bullets, keeps quality under control and keeps it firmly in the "early game" tech so to speak. Damage scaling with quality like rocks. Require it take up a pouch slot, which if the alternative is 5L water with the jug changes jorb talked about, is a meaningful cost for infinite ammo that at best kills badgers slowly.

Gives us a perfectly valid niche to include upgraded ammo type as well, win win.

(realistically, I think infinite ammo pouches for all ranged weapons wouldn't be unbalanced. This would keep the rules for all ranged weapons the same, giving you back the immersion since the internal laws of the game are consistent)

while this might work now, it wouldnt if ranged combat wasnt compleate ass, and a few people would convince jorbtard to nerf it even more every second patch,
and while this is the reality we currently live in, i would hope this wasnt a permanent and final solution,

currently , you craft a bow for the hunter and strider credos, wich both have 1 good reward, the rest buffing ranged combat, and then throw away the bow as soon as you finished your quests,

and slings , taming exploits excluded, are only usefull, if you live in a biome without horses, or cant tame one.

and every time something plops up where ranged weapons arent compleat crap, it either is broken as fuck,(through pali oneshots, shotgun bowing, etc) or its some niche use, that gets taken out of the game or nerfed intoo oblivion anyway. (not being able to shoot from crewslots)


we could have actual naval combat shenanigans, or actually harpoon down whales. but cheesing in shallows, and getting permachased by scouting bots seems more desirable.


its actually a wonder, they havent added armour to small birds and moles yet, to make them unslingable. just because.
