The game where your ALLY has a huge "shuriken" paving where he brings all the corpses of hermits he kills while he calls them poor hard r nwords while trying to get them to rmt him. This game wouldn't last a week on steam and perhaps that's how it should be.

Honestly same, i know some people with higher pings would suffer but the combat system seemed insanely fun if not a bit unbalanced (as expected from a new system). Afaik it would be basically the same system (or very similar in nature) to what salem has, and ngl i think salem beats hafen when it comes to combat system, it just feels great and is super easy to get into (you hit you deal damage, there are combos and many different moves with extra effects but the base hit -> damage is there, so anyone can get into it without watching a tutorial).

So you'd need basically 2-3 armor sets on you at all times that you have to swap depending on the enemy deck while the decks can be swapped freely without carrying anything extra?

I like the idea of combo moves but then again idk how much i trust the devs to implement it in a way where you don't just keep on spamming one combo, i do agree that all that initial running around and take aiming sucks tho which makes decks like SoS that self-fuel (and would still self-fuel due to how zig zag works even if it cost 4 ip) super prone to abuse.

if that's how you would play it that's fine, giving up inventory slots in place of food/water. Sounds like strategic planning and trade-offs to me.

outside of PVP It would also mean you can gear up for specific dungeons or targeted hunting.

A bat requires some green open to use Wingbeat, and some yellow open to use Vampirism.
Fell scratch opens green and wingbeat opens yellow. GRACEFUL PROGRESSION COMBAT?!?!?!??!
That would require a much bigger rework of the combat system tho, sadly.

I like this idea a lot, simple and makes sense.

please no osrs style gear-switching, would make the combat system even more arcane than it already is. not to mention the custom client / auto hotkey shit it would spawn

hate to break it to you, but auto swiching gear is already a thing~ bunny shoes and steel plate greaves. when you click on a mob the shoes swich for the speed bonus, then if you click off~ back to steel.

Same with Coracle, and I dont think many use it (since water is better) but there is full gear set switching for when defending vs when attacking.
I was the first one to make a auto macro back in world 8 for shield to b12 cleave, loftar added a cooldown when you swich weapons now~ idk why its not like that for all gear.

by giving most players options to gear for particular combat it makes it better for more than it would be worse. Plus it give the devs more tools for balancing combat. Ofc pve is the biggest part of combat, pvpers will just zerg or exploit round systems anyway. focusing on them is a fool's earned.

Yeah ofc, the hermits who can't gear properly right now will surely be able to gear properly if there are multiple optimal ways to gear your character. Making shit more complicated doesn't help hermits.

Right now there's very little outplay potential besides running and screaming to stack coins on a guy and use an ability. I'd really like to see pvp condensed into faster down times and somehow make it skill based. I don't think combat stats should really be included in the infinite scaling potential, alts be damned. I would be interested in a world with harsh stat caps/scaling to at least test the waters.

Talon, remember when I changed my name to sacrear and rekinned you then aggroed you at a thingwall

You ran in a tight circle like a hermit audibly shaken and unable to get me out of melee range for a single moment over the course of 5-10 minutes until somebody else in the call got there and realized it was me. You weren't even experienced enough to be able to tell I wasn't hurting you, just spamming flex with 0 coins. You never hit me back. You never clicked kritter. You never clipped me. You had Felix, like, frantically calling Sacrear to on discord to stop.

Why the fuck are you giving suggestions like an authority on combat? You would actually struggle to kill a boar with low stats & no red defense.

P.S. you're literally the one that got Loftar to buff swords causing the current meta
