Combat vs animals needs to not revolve around cheesing them.

That's more or less the true essence of melee combat in Haven. I understand why you might dislike this and find it unintuitive for newbs. But it's what we have, should we really rework combat again for the fourth or fifth time?

Well, it's low on the list of things I'd rather have the devs work on and out of all of the suggestions I've made this one would require the most work to fix. Credo fixes are something I'd much rather see and they can be fixed with minimal work.
I wouldn't want them working on combat unless they had a flash of inspiration that radically changes things up, because small tweaks are not what's going to fix the combat system.
For me, it wouldn't be the end of the world if it remained how it was, I've long since adapted. I just don't find it particularly enjoyable.
I think it's a bad look for the game when everything combat related revolves around cheesing.
I mean be honest, putting kiting being cheesy or not aside, most players when they're taught how to start killing things are taught how to cheese them because that is essentially how combat works in this game.

I think a lot of players learn boat cheese and then later cave cheese because it's easy. Kiting does require some skill, but I think it's the proper way to play, so I don't consider it cheese.

I teach kiting only, except vs mammoths and whales.

I otherwise agree with your most recent post.
