Is anyone actually melting coins that aren't gold back down? Why would it matter how many coins you get when the value of coins other than gold is unconnected to how many metal bars they make?
If I say 100 of my lead coins are worth a subtoken, why can't I just say that 60 of my lead coins are worth a subtoken after your change?

It's not like value of gold coins is connected to the value of gold bar either. Gold is too common on lower levels for that to be the case.
