I liked spawning somewhere in the deep forest, where there was no one but me, and then slowly exploring the area around, meeting more and more new neighbors. Those were pleasant times.

The areas around Thingwalls look like LA streets cause of all random stuff people leave there.

It is not good for new players to experience the negative effects of high player density immediately after character creation. Organized groups find it mildly annoying to get away, new players struggle with it.

Not entirely sure what to think of Thingwall spawning. I have appreciated the landscape not being littered with hearthfires that were used once and then abandoned forever, but I have also noticed the lack of resources around Thingwalls. I also personally enjoyed seeing some mild activity around me when I initially created a character.

I have seen at least some appreciation for it elsewhere.

From my perspective - the more steam spruces to kill around the merrier

but this is Bob thread so I need to agree with him (u don't want to see angry Bob), we need more evenly spawning spread

Everything depends on what you want the outcome to be: should sprucecaps struggle to find a decent start and end up settling in hostile lands, or should they have a better chance at finding peaceful areas, less likely to be ravaged by larger, hostile groups?

Random spawning was better than thingwall spawning by a mile, I think.

I think the landscape not being littered with hearthfires is way more important than some spruces

I've always had a preference for spawning in the absolute barren wilderness with as little as possible to indicate player activity around you. I appreciate the persistent open world aspect, finding someone else to trade with or their ruins to loot, but that feeling of getting plunked nude in the forest with nothing but nature to accompany you.. building up to proper industry from there..

goddamn, i'm not one to whine about wanting private servers / offline play on the forums but it's really something that should be considered following the steam release.

Who cares what you think, you are just littering the forums with your useless posts trying to get your post count higher.

Agreed, although could there be a third way to implement spawning of characters? Currently it's either by Thingwalls or random spawning..
Hearthfires littering nature just seems a bad excuse..
