Let's say I sleep 6h, doesn't really matter, the taming progression already started, do I really have to check this game every 5h to know if animal is in battle possition?
it's ridiculous

You shall learn the cycles soon, check the animal you are taming every 12 hours from the moment you leash it, before work and after work are great points to check.

If you hate animal taming just wait until you start silk and steel

Silk and steel is predictable, you know how much time it takes, it doesn't have so stupid offset compared to taming

Wait until you find out about the rest of the game!

Nah, like cheese just make taming process not go down. Easy fix. Them losing taming progress isn't needed for the mechanic to work at all. Taming window should reliably open after 20hrs as well, just so you can tame once per day with wiggle room to not abuse sleep.

Which is also poor game design, but not one that is as easily fixed.

You should be taming multiple animals of each type anyways, wait until you tame an animal and it's male, so you try again and next thing you know you have 5 male cows and no females. I found taming to not be bad at all. The worst is when you forget to peace it an accidentally kill it
