+1, should also add ice skating that is faster than skiing but if you collide with an object you take some wounds and are stunned for a few seconds (also would have to drain more stamina than skis, of course)

From the other side another mount like snowboard which gives more well balanced options for pvp would be big +1. Make winter longer

If they do this they should buff greenhouse size by 3-4x and increase the footprint too

And make shit freeze quicker so there aren't annoying melted patches everywhere

+1 you can barely enjoy winter at this point.

Also winter events... like you could make the Northern lights appear and give some kind of curios on mountains, so everybody would flood to high peaks to see the Northern Lights.

Also add Caribou and Polar Bears

I like winter and I like that its less populated. Its often not the new players and casuals that quit during winter. Its often the tryhards and gankers everyone wants to avoid while exploring anyway. Winter is actually a hidden gem of the game with whirling snowflakes, ermines, and less gankers around. But yea definitely add some more things like winter only dungeons and winter crops. Maybe something end game to appease the titans and factions while retaining the safety of them leaving everyone else alone during that time. Would love to see normal crops limited to greenhouses during winter despite how angry everyone gets about it. Maybe give crops planted in greenhouses faster growing time regardless of season so they can be used all year round. Maybe make an additional larger greenhouse type requiring hard metal to make.

I'm really happy with the direction winter is going (including the recent additions of christmas themed curios) and I think it might be ready for an extension soon. I hate mound beds, it might be more difficult using greenhouse but it should be. I really hate this idea among the most elite players that every season should be identical or else people will quit. Please understand this point devs:

Also these are the same people that bitch and threaten shit but have been botting in every world for a decade anyway. Sometimes they have good points. Other times you need to learn to ignore them entirely.

Fuck man i despise the melted patches. So ugly and hinders winter vehicles. Im ready to mass produce glass panels to avoid them. Also it makes prepping and planning your farm more involved and thoughtful (like irl prepartion for winter for time immemorial). Shitting out a mound bed everywhere is brain dead shit that is below the scope of this game imo.

Lowkey i super agree. When they first added Winter i didn't want to be blindsided by no crops so for several days prior to winter i had my ovens burning constantly and the sausage maker turning to prepare for multiple feasts during winter (back then it lasted long enough to warrant multiple feasts)

I literally do no preparation for winter anymore, it barely impact my gameplay at all. I lowkey think we should remove moundbeds and greenhouse, but I also understand this will piss off factions so much that its probably not worth considering the amount of the games activity they comprise.

Greenhouses will make players do 2 things:
1) Time when to plant so as not waste seeds or time on crops that will go fallow
2) Prepare your best seeds for the greenhouses (unless you're already doing that to take advantage of faster growing times or some other year round buff from them)

Just think about it. They added crops growing fallow because of winter. Players dont like that so they add mounds so you have to do something to avoid going fallow. Players dont like that either. They are just trying to patch over more and more mistakes. Or maybe fix that which isnt broken. You can have crops go fallow AND give players an opportunity to avoid it AND not making ugly mounds wasting players time on a mechanic that makes no sense (piles of unlit dirt preventing winter in an ugly circle around it) by using greenhouses in better ways. Bigger variant and a pupose beyond just winter prevention. This could mean a good farmer would already have things going in greenhouses by the time winter starts so its less of hassle compared to going to some totally different none farming mechanic to continue farming during winter.
