Realms are EXP banks for factions. Accept and Embrace it.

Why make it so complicated? Simply apply a 10% debuff to running speed and an additional 30% water consumption penalty for those wearing plate armor, as well as the same penalties of 10% and 30% to anyone whose campfire has been standing in the kingdom for less than one month IRL.

Eh sure why not, having empty realms work like xp batteries is kinda dumb, why would you contribute xp to a realm that doesn't provide anything in return. And it's not like we are getting rid of this system or changing it at the core anyways so it's better than nothing.
I like the idea snail mentioned of ppl being able to build their own kingdom shit and assigning it to buffs of their choosing.

I really like the idea of incentivizing big boys to cover more area and want more hermits under their shadow, even if they never interact, just within their realm.

Also really love the idea of hermits being able to create their own realm buff, a sort of collective presence. I'm sure if Jorb ever touches the idea he will implement a completely different execution.

Hey everyone,

I just wanted to highlight how brilliant vatas’s proposal is—framing Realms as EXP banks where buffs directly influence taxation efficiency and realm defensibility is such an elegant, engaging idea! It not only deepens strategic gameplay, but also opens the door for richer social dynamics and conflict.

I especially love the balanced vision others have added:
- **vatas’s** concept of Hearth magic to modulate Authority contribution makes realm participation more intentional and meaningful.
- **Fostik’s** call for a “duke” role could introduce feudal structures—adding depth and shared governance.
- **SnuggleSnail’s** idea to allow even outsiders to assign buffs via menhirs/grotesques is inspired—spreading influence beyond rigid realm boundaries.
- **Halbertz’s** view of realms coexisting with hermit vassals is brilliant PvP and community gold.
- **landreaum’s** tweak to have personal buffs stay relevant even when realm power shifts is practical and immersive.

All in all, the whole thread feels like it's converging toward a much more dynamic, flexible realm system—one that's fair to both casual players and power gamers. Huge kudos to vatas and everyone building on the concept!

There's something uncanny about this post. I just can't put my finger on it. Hmm...
