After we looted some killing bears went from too slow to be worth it to only taking 5 minutes.

... what does this mean? What is too slow, and what is its relation to obsidian? "Looted some killing bears"? :thinking:

We looted some obsidian knifes from other players, which are the best early game PVP weapon until Bswords/spears, and the best PVE weapon until tinker's axes. Obsidian all gets picked by alts within the first 1-2 hours of the server, so if you don't find lava fast you just don't get any and it makes super early fighting a bit harder

yeah its kinda annoying, we had a late start and found lava hour 4 and all the Obsidian was gone. I am not sure why we can't have it as a foragable related to masonry instead of exploration or something instead of being a obj that disappears after then first 2 hours feels shitty.

In defense of obsidian rare building/paving/whatever/expensive materials are rly cool. Dakkan basically came his pants when I gave him an obsidian boulder like a year into W16, and it being a renewable resource would ruin that.

Maybe obsidian only spawning for the first week, but it being a few rocks every hour. Same amount in total, but alts can't clear it all in the first hour of the world

I think we will just end up with the same situation with local resource were people just alt camp it forever.

maybe an event where the volcano erupts and more boulders.

yeah the side effects of x2 speed means everyone now has x2 more things to do in the same amount of time. I am not a huge fan of it. curios being the worst offender here but I imagine when bases go up, maintaining farms, animals.. pretty much any industry will be harder for any none-faction group. Hermits get hit hardest, they now have even less they can do.

Obsidian is too relevant for early game to really gate it. Maybe just make obsidian forageable with low per*exp that you can find on the dried lava rock? Would be nice to have a renewable source of it for paving/building, it's a neat texture.

Wound stacking screwed my villager up, 2 nasty lacerations in like 4 logs (not even the ones with bonus wound chance). We were just making a 30x30 palisade lol.

I really hope this new progression system produces an actual quality spiral. Sped up trees/crops/animals could be part of it.

maybe I dont pay attention enough but I havent really felt any difference
