Selective time improvements could make the game less tedious.

Faster Kilns, Smelters, drying, etc.
Faster tanning, but also double how much stuff tanning fluid can be used for
Faster LP from curios by doubling the LP they give, not halfing the time it takes to study.
Easier credo quests/less quests overall.
Faster Pyres but make lower levels require less str to mine.
Make foods give 2x FEPs rather than speeding up satiations decreasing
Faster animal taming by making them require less beatings, rather than making them have faster and shorter beating windows making them harder to keep up with
Faster steel crucibles, but also double the duration of the fuel too

I MEAN THESE ARE JUST OFF THE TOP OF MY HEAD, but you need to play the game to actually think of them... which the devs clearly avoid doing

Tbh this game speed increase feels like just another "go fuck yourself" band-aid thrown in after less than 5 minutes of thought, when someone mentioned it takes 9 weeks to reach level 9, which would kinda suck in a 3-month world.

Devs making world faster this way basically proves the point they don't understand the game anymore.

It's been actually addressed many times, that game pace is way too slow for modern games, like tanning takes a day, or plants growing 2 to 3 days, or even burning ore or anything in kilns taking way too long for such basic mechanics.
But the way it was adressed by speeding up the world is kind of breaking more than it solves, I couldn't even imagine the gap between top players and the rest.

I think some speedups would go great in the main game, others kind of highlight mechanics that would be nice with small tweeks.

Heavily disagree that the player pop is related to this issue though, we have 900 people online, but only peaked at 1000 on server up. People didn't know about this mechanic, and people prep to play haven weeks ahead of time so I think there's other issues at hand (marketing, lack of feature addition, x.1 world, etc)

Curios - bad early game
early game there aren't good "craft a mass amount of curios that burn slower" options, so your desk being perpetually empty makes you feel like you're not working hard enough

Mineholes - really bad
they were introduced as an anti grind slowdown mechanic, speeding that up is counter to their point. Made worse by everything else speeding up

smoking/cooking/smelting/etc - fine
Spitroast starts to feel a bit silly with how short it is
Smokers/fish drying is nice, they feel like they take too long anyway

Wound healing - odd(?)
Many wounds are healing so quickly I barely notice them. But the point of the wound system was to be a cost, which is now much lessoned. Issue of course is some of the costs (looking at you crabs) have always felt out of line/bullshit.

Timed production mechanics: Steel/Silk/taming/cheese
Cheese is the only one with a "spoilage stop gap". The other three are all a nightmare now requiring 24/hr village activity.

Claims drying
makes them almost impossible to spot/bash.

Palisades drying
similar to above, the drying mechanic making them possible to find/prevent has been reduced.

Animal breeding
animals desperately need to scale faster to be relevant, this method makes them much more work but brings their potential usefulness from 6 months to 4 months into the world. Issue being... animals were already notorious for their soul crushing workload.

trees
trees always felt like they took too long to grow tbh

I think the core issue is, as a chore game, haven has set a bar of "if you do this much in a day, you're done with that tast". Speeding up everything time wise by 50% has added 50% more workload to most of those tasks. It feels bad for a lot of us now that the goals have been moved past what we're capable of doing in a day. Interestingly, we've all been downgraded to hermit status of "I'll get to it when I get to it".

I think there's 2 classes of grind games, marathons and sprints. Most people play haven as a sprint game during the first 1-2 months for unlocking milestones as they become available. That's why having mechanics that say "ok you're done for today" mixed in with infinite grinds feels nice.

It is pretty funny that they just globally sped time up, without regard of any mechanic becoming more or less grindy.

It is unironically earnestly hilarious and I'm having a lot of fun playing around seeing what's more/less fun under the new regime
