My point with the scent suggestion is that the game itself does not condemn actions; it simply gives the players ways to resolve the conflicts among each other. If you don't get bad karma for murder, why would you get it for chopping a tree that happened to be a questgiver?
lol i wasn't trying to get in to a philosophical debate, with such a system you probably would get bad "karma" for murder too though regardless of the circumstance. Removal of questgivers whether intentional or not is debatable in that regard, that's fair, but in my opinion there are certain actions that are inherently destructive and go against nature such as destroying or digging up burial grounds, corpse desecration, murder, etc. It doesn't have to be karma, it could be fate, destiny, honour, or reputation. What it is called really has no special relevance and ideally performing actions such as burying a corpse would positively impact whatever the relative mechanic happens to be. I just thought it might be interesting, and it somewhat relates to a
suggestion I made previously.
For a world "loosely inspired by Slavic and Germanic myth and legend" it really doesn't have much mythology or urban legend related stuff going on.
