as long as the speed up exists it will be mandatory. If its a gilding, if its a dungeon buff, if its another piece of equipment.. whatever it is, if it gives speed buffs it will be mandatory in pvp. Sure changing it to a gilding "frees" up the shoe slot, but if you make it a gilding like woodsmen token, every piece of equipment will have to have this mandatory gilding on it.. WHICH makes it even worse because its easier to only have rabbit shoes on rn while out and about but more annoying to have a full gilding set while outside. People are saying make it rarer. which Is stupid, I echo Mightysheep here it has to be easy enough everyone can get without grind so no one can complain.
I will say that if everyone is running around with rabbit shoes on anyway. or in whatever implementation it could change too, simply removing it is the best option because now its not mandatory and everyone is at the same speed before and after anyway. SURE you could argue that its a fun combat skill to be able to click on bunnies mid fight. I have seen an "auto click on small game" button in 1-2 clients before but it is what it is.
I would just argue that we are trying to solve a flaw in the combat design instead of just actually looking at an interesting combat system. TBH its not far off being totally fine we just need more abilities instead, maybe jump gives you a % increase in speed for a second. maybe zig-zag slows you down for second, Maybe there is a simple ability you can spend IP in exchange for % speed buff, or slow down. Maybe Flex "scares" stuns your op for 0.5 seconds, maybe ability that clears debuffs/buffs whatever...
All I read from this is "Movement buffs is a key part of combat" maybe lean into it, give 80% of the combat moves some sort of movement based ability, sure one move might end up being OP and mandatory, not saying it will be balanced initially, but it would certainly be better then "I gotta wear these shitty rabbit shoes and always do credo" hell have the credo give us some none-passive combat move (or stance) for chasing animals that auto clicks on the closet small game and gives you speed buff.
A while back there was talks about boss fights being boring, takes like 5 mins to think of some interesting movement mechanic for boss fights, - avoid zones, "run during this ability" - "hug during this ability" - "stand still while x is happening".. its a side tangent on combat in general but It surprises me that they have not added the 3rd dimension of movement to combat decks. (Openings/Restorations being the other 2).
TLDR: bunny shoe buff problem is a symptom of it being the only movement tech in combat which should be expanded instead of focusing on bunny slippers themselves.
