the combat system in this game is garbage there needs to be ways to speed yourself up and slow your enemies down and also ways to catch up with your enemy more variety of movements would make the game a lot more enjoyable endless chasing people at the same speed constantly is boring the person in front usually stays in the front the combat system is the thing I hate about the game the most everything else is enjoyable I keep playing the game cuz I like everything else but the combat always pisses me off that's why the simply refused to do PVP it's so boring it's funny this game is a PVP MMO but it's PVP is the worst feature of the game even PVE is better when it comes to engagement I have more fun killing boars bears and mammoths than fighting other people the PVP of this game is embarrassing you know there's a problem with the game when the method of trying to keep yourself alive is so damn boring you choose to sit back and fight to the death cuz it's faster at getting you ahead even though your character will die and you will lose your progress It's more convenient to lose your progress and redevelop your character then put up with that shit

I think this thread kind of demonstrates the point that the "onboarding" thread is trying to communicate.

Imagine DOTA but there's no feedback from lasthitting. (it actually came stock from WC3, where the designers subtly encouraged "creeping" by having gold visibly spill out from an unit if it has a "bounty" attached to it.) Newbies don't lasthit, have less gold than their opponent, almost certain to lose as their opponent snowballs.

The onboarding thread has people, who have some kind of idea about lasthitting, asking the game to have indicator to new players that you should last hit the creeps. This thread is asking for an entirely new minigame to be added to the map, where you can earn gold/items.

(In case it wasn't clear, in this analogy, lasthitting means running/drink management.)

here's another DotA and League of Legends the reference the running mechanic in this game is like a game of League of Legends that goes on for 45 minutes you're losing but your opponent won't finish you off cuz they want to farm you and fuck with you and your teammates are bitching and complaining at you that's what this water drinking mechanic feels like all you could do is run away from the enemy and accomplish nothing or if you are chasing somebody you want to kill him but you can't catch up till they run out of resources it basically drags the engagement on forever which can get old and pretty boring quick for most average people and even some people are above average and PVP games get sick of it I consider it toxic gameplay the reason why most games have Gap closers and crowd control it makes the engagements quicker and fast and more fun cuz chasing or being chased is usually very terrible for both individuals there is some skill involved with the current running mechanics but it's also a lot about luck it's possible you can run for a while and not find any speed boost or anything at all for a long time

here's an idea I came up with it might make things a little bit better
also I think there should be more random Buffs in the environment you can encounter while you're in combat and also debuffs too so you have to dodge certain things that could randomly appear in front of you there might even be some things you might want to go back for and for instance there can be special items you find if you collect a certain number of them it can allow you to teleport back while you're in combat but they'll be very difficult to get and they would be in hard to reach places along the path you take some of them might even require you to backtrack which might get you killed but there could also be items the enemy can get which will allow them to jump right on top of you something like that is needed to end the chase if it goes on too long at least they'll turn this running thing into something like a mini game at that point which would make it more interesting to engage with at that point right now it sucks

should the CC be you just click on a guy to stun him for 3 seconds then 15 people cleave him and he dies, or should it be more like: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cX1HFj3HOR0

lol
