I wonder what a world without theft would look like. I'd guess almost the same, as most of these jerks would just grief you even if they couldn't take anything from you. But it would be an interesting social experiment.

Reminder that only really big system changes _ real content made anyone want to come back and any mention to just pvp made people groan and quit other then a handful of the player base.
This world has some insanly low player counts for "fun pvp world"

I oppose this suggestion in the strongest terms. Make a palisade and secure your things inside.

You already possess the tools to wound your enemy. Make a ceramic dagger, stitch together some leather armor and fight them. Rage is cheaper this world. Stats will never be as close as they are right now.

You shouldn't get free wounds on an attacker through passivity and inaction. Developer intervention shouldn't replace playing the game.

mfw the of PVPers:PVErs ratio goes down after 5+ straight years of the PVP being dogshit as a direct result of ideas like "what if I got a wound for 25% of my HP for stealing a cupboard of curios", or "what if you had to sail for 2 hours for a small chance to fight somebody"

I'm pretty sure the traveling merchant meme that singlehandedly ruined like 5 worlds originated from potjah, too

Fake facts up there.
An oppotunity to play with friends, to explore freshly generated world, to make new friends and rivals, in terms of not ruining each others life but compreting in how far and fast each party progresses in development and quality, all new features that were added during the year is what drives people to play the game.
Only loud minority is happy of being able to play Rust dlc.

Every PvP and risk/reward situation MUST have some rules and choises to make. The option to vouch out of contesting something. That is not the case at the moment.

The game is unplayable when no matter how far you run or how much effort you throw into trying to start development of your home and protect it (without losing your job), it's purely a gacha at the moment.
People are literally bashing claims and drying palis in the middle of nowhere, not even close to where they reside or some precious locations, not to contest something or steal stuff, but just in spite of it.

Doesn't matter how much snail and his friends want to believe it, PVP is not the main goal of this game.
Only a handful of players login looking for PVP. To the rest of us PVP is an annoyance -we either take part because of necessity, or we don't take part at all.

Even the devs don't seem to see PVP as the focus of the game, but rather as a necessary evil to ideally allow players to stop griefers (which in truth doesn't really work) in an unmoderated game.
It shows in the About section of the website, which doesn't even mention PVP.
It shows in the Steam page, which puts it at the very end of the description (and still clings to an idea of using it for justice, which hasn't been the case in years -if ever).
It shows in the trailer and screenshots, that don't have a single frame of PVP in it.

Haven might need PVP so that players can do something against griefing (or give that impression at least), but it's not what drives people to the game. It's mostly what drives them away.
That's also why the player base is always the same people who have been playing since legacy. New players run as soon as they realise how much griefing is in the game, and how you can't do shit about it.
