In real world where the natural selection works both ways (both for hunter and for pray), humans learned very fast it's healthier to never face your pray in melee combat. Javelins (made from sticks sharpened in fire) were invented before stone tools.

I can not understand why in this game aiming is so screwed and melee weapons can't lower pray's dead body quality, but arrows can, why is it so much against J&L's preference for the players to hunt like humans do. Why are J&L so determined to make PvE melee when historically it was never ever like this. Mammoth traps were definitely already used in stone age. Mammoth traps made by digging a hole, sticking sharpened sticks vertically in it then cover it with boughs and dirt. Then aggro the Mammoth, switch position until the mammoth falls. After he falls, if it is not wounded badly enough from the fall, throw rocks in its head.

We became the dominant race not by strength and unarmed melee abilities, but by being smarter than our pray and taking their lives without risking our lives. That is how humans became humans and not a new race of monkeys. THat is what makes us different from animals. Intelligence and the ability to kill anything but humans (and sometimes even humans) without being in danger to be killed. And this ability comes from tools and devices, not from physical traits but from experiments then shared knowledge.

Why is this game so purposely taking away what makes us humans? Do J&L hate humanity that much?

As a rule of thumb, everything that makes life easyer and less boring/grinding for players is a great idea. Everything that makes the game harder is crap coming from sadistic tendencies of Jorbtar helped by the few players with the same kind of disorders.

I would search that "hate" in matter like using build signs to block prey and spray it down with stones in the past. ¦]

Taking real world into the game doesn't necessary make the game better.

I agree on most of the complains and it would be nice to come up with better more interesting system for combat and hunting. But it should be more interesting to play, it has nothing to do with how realistic it is. Nobody is playing this game to learn how to survive in real world after all.

For animals such as bears, mammouths, moose can you add something like the walls soak. Basically you need to obtain a certain lvl of str or skill before any damage can occur.

Quality get destroyed for every hit\punch. A bear is punched 50 time his quality and amount of meat\bones basically goes down to 0 or worthless scraps

Like Deep Artifice and Druidic Rite add a skill Big Game that takes a lot of LP to achieve.
Have a hunting skill tree, small game(duckes, ants etc....) next stage (fox, badgers, beavers) next (deer, cows, etc..) next stage (bear, moose) next stage (mammouths)

If we're talking about realistic behavior, wouldn't it be sensible to make animals choose fight/run the moment they're agro'd? For example, if bear is hit by a bow from a boat, it cannot retaliate so it runs away right away. The same when its target gets into unreachable position, if fighting isn't possible, it should run.
Running away when low is okay only if there was a fight prior to it, looking at someone shooting you in the face and waiting for your hp to drop sounds dumb.

Yeah, we really need to nerf the player's ability to slap up a random palisade anywhere around animals just to trap them! Gosh, it's not like they take any materials anyway. Players on day 1 will surely be building palisades any time they find a badger.

Really bruh? Lure an animal to a reinforced wall constructed of solid wood, and that shouldn't 'count'? How would you even fix trapping an animal in palisades? Make them break it. Oh man that would be awful.

I think coles showed us what is really broken about palisade cheesing.

I'm glad I was wrong and this surely needs to be fixed. He wasted 10 or so minutes fucking around with gates, then lost half of his health to a projectile booger. The ability to gain this much power so early on is really broken.

To be fair mammoths are pretty hard to cheese solo with sub 70-100ish ua, but it's definitely possible to do
Bears and anything lower can still be cheesed like this easily though.

The video is just a fuck-up that was funny, but it definitely works lol

If you are referring to things like trapping animals, using terrain to your advantage, shooting from boats, and using cliffs strategically as "exploits"...

You do realize these were all often-used tactics in the early days of human hunting?

If not, what are these hunting exploits you refer to?
