Why would it be fair that the game treat the vast overwhelming majority of players as second hand citizens? Only a small handful of people are interested in PVP, so why not make a PVP credo? When you complete it you gain the ability to agro any player who has also completed it and BE agrod by any player who has also completed it.

It would make griefing with an army of fresh alts with no combat stats trivially easy. There’s literally no recourse since they can just opt out of pvp

Just make forced pvp opt-in when entering a claim without permission and that's 90%+ of alt abused covered.

I'm genuinely curious what you guys would do if jorb entertained this idea with the added precedent that any blatant ridiculous alt/bot type mass griefs that are obvious attempts to undermine the game for the soul purpose of causing chaos would result in bans or character deletions.

Like, somebody sends him a screenshot of 30 freshly spawned wood chopping bots surrounding a base in palisade for no reason other than to grief

or like, some grid of pclaims that are obviously intended to be extended over time to interfere with a village growing for no reason other than to grief

there would be a real possibility of just having every account and character associated with that behaviour banned because you are just absolutely trying to ruin the game for the sake of ruining the game


this is a hypothetical, I know jorb doesn't want to have to police us

but would the snail archetype player just actually quit then if there was only opt-in PVP and just being a blatant game ruiner could net you a ban?

Yes, the fact that this sort of ban will never happen is crucial to why your idea is trash. Yes the 'snail archetype' would no longer be an issue if their attempts to 'ruin the game' on purpose stopped being tolerated. Why do you position such stupid, obvious hypotheticals?


Nothing has to be huge and blatant and ridiculous for this idea to not be tenable. As long as I can do this to a freshly spawned character's HF and remove them from the game permanently with 0 recourse, with it being like, by definition in a non-PVP world impossible to stop me, your terribly disingenuous idea is terrible. This can easily be extrapolated to blocking people in/out of their houses, blocking caves, etc. Just another shade of the dumb bullshit hearthfires having collision caused.

Don't you think that making a few minor tweaks to prevent this sort of thing would be easier?

Also, if we are in agreeance that the snail archetype is only playing for the soul purpose of trying to ruin the game, maybe it would be worth it for jorb to invest a small amount of time following up on some reports and observing some ingame behaviour. They have absolutely admitting to doing this before during other times where cheating and foul play was afoot.

The end goal of the opt-in PVP only solution is to make the game enjoyable for a large number of players.

The goal is literally to make game ruiners quit.

The devs want this, the players want this, the community moderators want this.

Do you actually spend any time on discord? I am 100% genuinely not part of this group and even if I wanted to be I don't think I would be invited

I absolutely consider myself to be friends or acquaintances with some of these people but I've literally never played with them nor engaged in this kind of behaviour.

If the game was split in to 2 servers, 1 for PVP and 1 without PVP I would never set foot in the PVP server because I am honestly not interested in it. I am unironically waiting for bitcraft so I can experience Haven without PVP.
