I'm not convinced it would ultimately be a good idea.

It wouldn't.
Do not.
jorb: I don't want *your* money. You are rude and boring. Go away.
Sevenless: We already know real life has some pretty shitty game mechanics, it's why we're here instead.
Avu: The end is near it has finally come to pass: I agree with Lunarius...
Shubla: There are also other reasons to play this game than to maximize your stat gain.

It would create more oppertunities for hermits to become premium via using tokens. Simplify currencies and prevent scamming as has been done before with coins being mass produced to clean out stock.

This adds a nice limitation in the form of universalised value that everyone wants. It also means more chance for tokens to be removed from the game and fresh ones bought from the store.

Alternativly. Coins that are produced at a press should be required to be backed by tokens. This allowa custom currencies but they have a aet value against tokens.

If inflation is an issue, gold and silver just need better sinks to combat inflation. Best in slot, yet more fragile armours, top tier foods and curio that scale well with quality (way better than other options that don't take precious metals), for example. They also need to be removed from fixed cost items like kingdoms so the value is more linear and doesn't just drop off after the majority are built (inflation spike from lowered demand mid world).

As mentioned previously there's already a massive incentive to hoard persistent items in trades (hats, tokens) as they are the only persistent thing between worlds and are far more stable to boot, this proposed change would just exacerbate that.

It's all just basic economics really.

No. Having player managed values for coins adds for some interesting game play opportunities. At one point last world, coins weren't well balanced in value between realms, and people that noticed the opportunities took them to get a bit extra at the expense of those that weren't paying attention. And that's what trading PvP is all about--creating economic advantage and dominance. (We could use a lot of improvements here, but that's for another thread.)
Opinions expressed in this statement are the authors alone and in no way reflect on the game development values of the actual developers.
