Sounds like the exact same argument to me. The fragility of the horse is obviously directly tied to how dominant/useful they are. Being able to dismount opponents is about the only thing non horse combatants have going for them.

I don't think it is correct to compare horses to armor saying "everybody should have one, if not you are a noob and deserve to lose". Sometimes people arent going to be on horse, maybe they are sailing somewhere with boat, does that mean if they run into enemies it should be automatic lose for them? I really dont get this logic of saying "horse riders already have a big advantage in pvp, so we might as well just make it 100% in favor of horse rider".

Horses need to have some kind of weakness, if your suggestion was implement it would mean a horse rider could theoretically go 1v10 with no issue, they kite easily and ride away whenever they feel like it. It would be plain stupid and devastating for nubs.

Fine. Let's just make it that mounted players can not attack horses. Is it OK with the non horse combatants?

You're cutting off the argument and taking the first half of it out of context.

I am not denying that this is a problem, nor am I confirming that it is a problem. I am neutral on this issue. I am stating this as a fact (not 'this is true' fact but in the 'this is information relevant to what I'm about to say' way).

VDZ wrote:Once you're off your horse you lose, so the side that can get their enemies off their horses first will win.

Within the context of losing once you're off your horse, it is far too easy to be knocked off your horse. This is about horse vs horse combat. One side will knock the other off their horse, and is granted an automatic victory for that. Assuming that being knocked off your horse is intended to be devastating, it is far too easy to knock someone off their horse.

Whether or not it's unfair that mounted fighters have a huge advantage over non-mounted fighters is another subject entirely. A cavalry vs cavalry fight should consist of more than a single attack, and that's the problem here.

I don't know, I think it has potential. Perhaps require a lance or lance-like weapon to knock people off their horse when you're mounted?

it makes no sense, why wouldn't a player on a horse be able to attack the other horse? And if you create a weapon that is capable of knocking the player off rather than knocking out the horse I don't see the difference except that the player will either a) be knocked out or b) get back on the horse

i think horses should be high value targets and 3v6 should be that the 6 won

i do wish horses had armor to somewhat mitigate value as to the rider or horse. maybe a stat for toughness or constitution so horses could be bred for war. maybe if the hide % did such a thing

I'm hermitting so don't have much to test with, but do horses knock you/flee when they take any damage, or do they have to be officially KO'd before you're kicked off?
Also, I assume you can still agro the horse instead of the rider?

In the case of any damage sending the horse running, it would be incredibly easy to knock someone from their horse and we would have multiple methods of doing so quickly
