Iunno, steel doesn't take remotely that long to make in the real world even with the crucible process. Maybe we can brainstorm another method of steel making?

i want bellows and heat for steel making requiring stamina and chance for injury that's preventable (please nothing like the stunting mechanism)

and something like the fishing minigame but 1-2hour process that's forgiving and like 5m every 30minutes

Thats exactly the point. That crucible thing its close to the industrial revolution if im not wrong.
And if im right the steel production in the late iron age, even in the norse countries wich was later than in the rest of europe, had more to do with materials, tools and time of production.
I think that having the right materials and time "in the spot" its the clue and also it will be more real.

It's been a suggestion before and I think the devs even agreed that's kind of the way they wanted to go with it, I can't really remember how that discussion went though or why they aren't considering implementing it now.

Depends on the type of crucible I guess. Wootz steel from looong ago was a crucible steel.

IMO the balance between realistic gameplay and abstract actions is enjoyable here... I love to watch the sheeps grow and multiply but thankfully i don't need to micromanage each of their tits... i come from the F2P desert and this game is a kind of oasis IMO

Are you saying it's ok that it's a 12 hour timer or not? I didn't gather anything from that post more than you like Haven. lol This steel making is in the vein of "micromanage each of their tits" I believe. At least if you try running more than one at a time, which everyone does because two pieces of steel for all those hours of micromanaging tits isn't worth it for just the two.

Right, I realized that the other day but apparently forgot it as quickly again. Thanks!

as I said were I came from this kind of mechanic is a breeze, specially for a high end product, i'm not against increasing the timeframe or anything, just saying this game is on a good balance overall

Steel making is good mechanic.
Not everything should be achievable within first 12 hours of gameplay.

Please look at my idea:

http://www.havenandhearth.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=40&t=48200&p=629549#p629549

It is a bit more cerebral (might take some actual number crunching and planning) and is more active but takes away the forced 96 hour timegate.
