While I think alkaline is too harsh with the criticism, they do raise a valid point that making another palisade can circumvent the issue, or is that intended?

Will try:

Palibashing by hand is a bad mechanic, has been in all worlds it was possible.
The problem with it is twofold: it is to easy on non-professional targets and the inner section of the wall is devoid of life and invobjs afterwards.

I get it that some here are in it for the fun of PvP and that the current siege system seems lame, but please keep in mind that a (however big) part of the bread and butter that keeps the game (or Jorb and Loftar, to be precise) alive comes from people who are more farmville oriented and don't see fun in playing a fast-grinded sociopathic combat character that kills, loots and pillages for fun - and the outcome when being confronted with one is more often than not a ragequit and loss of a (potentially paying) player.

My gut feeling this world is that the player retention we see in the graph not only stems from bots running rampant, but also from joe sixpacks that happily live their lives behind palisade, still gathering the strength to start to go mining while spending their time on whatever they do - because they can't be palibashed and wiped out within an hour by someone passing by, so they're still alive after 3 months which didn't happen like this last worlds.

Should you force everybody to build brickwall within 11 days after palisade is secure (3 days to build soak for palisade, 14 days after build they can be bashed) you would wipe a fair part of the population from the server, one reasons among others is that casual and new players usually need longer to build brickwall (if ever) because their priorities are different.

So your idea would be a bad one since the PvP oriented ones need the casuals since without them the gameworld would be empty.

What we need more is some mechanic to reasonably raid palisaded settlements in a way that dosn't has the impact of a tactical nuke. Casuals can cope with raiders coming by from time to time to steal some stuff, they can't cope with blitzkrieg total war start from scratch.

So my suggestion to cure boredom after reaching the cap is to think toward a solution that dosn't cater only one of the groups.

2 weeks is not enough for majority of the player base.
1 month is better.

You can rush steel in the first week OF THE WORLD and we're talking about 2 weeks, but tbh I think that month would be better too.

One thing that concerns me is how does newbies know that palisades start to decay? Will they know that they are suppose to use palisade as a relatively unstable stepping stone to reach brick wall?

How do newbies know that palisades are indestructible? How do newbies know that bears kill? How do newbies know that you can drown? How do newbies know how to build a house? They learn, read on forums, ring of brodgar or by themselves. Such a stupid argument.

Timeframe of decay can be flexible, I think. The idea is matters more than detail.

Also about problem of rebuild palisade. I do not think this is problem. If player wants to break and rebuild palisade every 2 weeks/1 month instead of build brickwall, I say let them. This sounds more painful than building the bricks to me.

There can be ways for showing it. Color change, some bar going down, tooltip saying it, model/texture looking different. It does not need for conveying what is happening exact, just enough for player to say ''oh some thing happens to my wall, what is?'' and then goes to forum or wiki to find this one out.

Or just get a double, nay, triple plaisade (yes, it's that cheap) and renew the one that's decayed beyond recognition. Wouldn't it be fun for a raider to claw through one palisade just to find out he can't damage the second one, oh joy!
That needs more thought, I believe.
