I think it would be cool if there were randomly spawning temporary areas of interest, providing some type of benefit for factions to fight over. It could be similar to OPs idea but not tied to existing nodes

Early world exploit: Put your hearthfire inside a cave, then hold shift to position a claim right in front of a cave. After 8 hours the claim will be unbreakable. Since your hearthfire is inside the cave, you can still get back inside, and leave, but nobody will be able to enter, effectively making you unraidable for the first 3-7 days. Enjoy

I'd like this if it were a powerful creature instead of a harvestable item. So that it's a completely combat oriented event, with unique endgame rewards that would benefit pvp players... so the non-pvp players could happily avoid it :)

Also it shouldn't be a common occurance. The rarer the event was, the more players it would attract right? Could be interesting as it adds things to do to the world. Although I'm sure Jorb and Loftar probably have plans to add their own ideas like this before the end :P

It's a game and I don't think the special resources should be put further out of reach ... :)
