I agree that it would probably be mostly annoying, in the decay-is-not-fun kind of way, if food spoiled left and right, but I do think it would be nice if some, particular foods were perishable. The "sizzling" buff on newly roasted meat is an example thereof, and I've considered if eg. meat salting/smoking/pickling shouldn't be implemented such that fresh meat perishes after some while, while cured meat does not, so that collected meat has to be cured if it is to be saved, and such things. In the end, I'm not sure if it would be fun or not.

I think doing it in this kind of way is a good thing, it adds more content and so long as you do what's required you aren't actually losing anything, I personally would find it fun - decay mechanics in general, without adequate alternative measures to combat it, do suck and are not fun, I've left two other games, along with hoards of others, due to introducing decay mechanics that take up all your in-game time fixing or that if you take a two day break you return to nothing!
There is a fine line between a game being hard and a game being so hard it's just no longer any fun.

I don't want any nerf, or nerfing anyone...i love this game and i want it more immersive than right now it is. Moreover there is no way to be bad at this game...

reading this topic makes me wonder if ppl knows about other survival games than salem/hafen...try wurm and get back telling me something about the click or grindfest, but compared to hafen, there are community projects this game can only dream in his own dreams.

Now to the topic, what i would like or do if i could:

make hunting more "realistic" but also more rewarding. Hunting a rabbit should be easy enough even by feet (not to mention the trap system that could grow in this game and will be really cool, like in UrW), and should be enough for a pair of days of food, while hunting a bear is obviously far more hard, but hey, a full bear can provide meat for one people for nearly one year, and will be possible only with the use of special traps (damn if i'll use some iron to get back a bear trap! let the bear stay put on the spot while i poke him with my spear!)
Players afraid of the spoil of food is not considering one thing: preserving food is just another easy step to get more food for a longer time, ie does not change anything for those that want to have an infinite stack of them or a full cellar.

To the point, i will raise the quantity of meat, and change the receipt to get back different foods that lasts longer or give more fep/less hunger. To the noob layer, i'll make available drying many foods (as we have all those cool berries/fruits and could not dry them! also, nuts, apple, pumpkins and more lasts longer periods of time naturally, so choose your foods!), at mid levels, let players make sausages and other preserved cuts of meat (bacon, lard, ham, all got from a single animal and all last longer and serve many), with also the possibility to add herbs, like pepper, or salt. For the long time players, makes smoking products and preserved veggies/fruits.

Making more recipes will give players a lot more chances and choices about what to make, but won't let you just kill a boar and fill the cupboards with meat, or worse, go around with a boat and meatgrinder while making sausages in the wild.

i tried wurm once, horrid unplayable shit... no i don't care for many games(the shame!!)... salem wants to tell me how to play, wurm wants to give me cancer in the first 5 minutes of playing... I stopped at Haven because its kinda easy going, but I can see it becoming something else with time... shit happens... community projects in a permadeath is crazy, i play solo only, build everything alone, unless its someone from my family, but they never play this type of game....
