I like the idea of barrel racks. Both the ones you provided and the older cradle kind would be nice. Now to go with it we need a spigot. :D

There should also be a small percentile that when swapping barrels out the rack will collapse and crush you to death.

We call it simply, Russian soul.”

An idea to consider: Tedium, a Feature.

If we follow that line of thought then weapons in combat should break and splinter on a small percentage chance. :)

Do not care if it is big barrel or stack barrel, but more storing is a good one.

I think our benefactors can figure something neat to do with this idea, while balancing it as well. What matters is that it's a pretty cool idea, not all the billion ways it could be implemented.

Knowing them they might as well tell us that a cupboard can store 16 buckets (160 liters) and use the same space as a barrel.

Lol, just kidding. But yes, OP made a good demonstration and received wide acclaim. I see no reason for it to not be implemented.

We could even get a "tier 2 barrel" with a metal nugget for a tap that allows us to use them in the racks :D

This is a good idea, their's only the annoying fact that storing barrels in wagon is a lot easyer and space effective then this.
If J&L were to do something like this.
it would be ideal for 6sq to hold 20 barrels. (+ more for the wagon inventory) (ooooor just nerf wagon  )
1 sq 4 barrel
2 sq 8 barrel
3 sq 12
4 sq 16
5 sq 20

Barrels are fairly large and going off of the style it can be difficult to get 4 barrels per tile without it not matching well. Most objects aren't taller than the walls, houses being the only exception. The smaller structures, oven, smelter even chicken coops are all roughly the same size as a wall. Going off of that is what limits the the visual size and by extension space of the racks.

The only real work around would be to make the visual for the barrels smaller. I was only using the base barrel for a reference. Making it visually smaller could work but might be a little jarring if you tried to go for more than 3 barrels per rack.

I'm doing an outdoor mock of a slightly larger rack. we'll see how it looks when i'm done i guess.

Will consider.
