lure them near a cliff, block them with a boat or something and punch to death, can do same thing on shallows with the boat just without actually being on one yourself, but hey why bother if there is an easier, game breaking feature! On my island I have prepared 3 pockets like that already where i can easily hunt game without worrying it will get away.

I'm dyin IRL. After a page of high-horse "git gud, don't use exploits to hunt, just git gud" he follows up with "If you wanna hunt without using exploits, trap them in with cliffs or boats on shallows, etc."

If you're not trolling you just destroyed your credibility, gg

trapping is part of hunting, i dont see your point at all, its the broken boat hunting allowing people to kill game they shouldnt be able to handle normally which is a problem.

Except there's no proper "trapping" mechanic in this game, so what you're doing is exploiting existing game mechanics to make hunting easier for you... just like everyone else. It's just that you've justified your exploits to yourself because they're the exploits you use, therefore they're okay.

There's an argument to be made for cliffs being a semi-intended feature of hunting--assuming you're not closing them in with boulders or other objects, and using the cliffs alone. But the shallows and boat blocking? lol. Why not just git gud, raise your per*exp so you can see the blood spatters, and try to chase after your prey after they run? By your own logic, you're killing prey you "shouldn't be able to" at your level by exploiting game mechanics.

(hint: it's because the hunting system needs sweeping changes and improvements, and literally everyone who plays this game finds ways to work around its current shortcomings--yourself included)

i said if they are blocking with boat at shallows atleast fight properly and not exploit the boat hunting, i said i have pockets with cliffs which are a proper way to contain running animal instead, point me please to the place where i said i am exploiting anything besides landscape?

I'll add my 2 cents. I never fought with players, only with animals. I never hunted with bows, because I found the system where you place signs around animal or keep shooting at it from the boat simply broken and unfun.

I liked combat system and hunting in w8, with the defenses / shields. My char would keep growing in strength until it could withstand attacks of stronger animals and slowly whittle them down. I liked combat in old haven where I could manage attack and defense power to do the same. But the current combat system... it seems to me that defense is useless and in head-to-head combat with animal it's just a race about who can dish enough damage as quickly as possible. Using restoration in such combat seems to be a waste of time, seeing how quickly animals build openings and start to dish out high damage. While my current stats (70 ua, 40 agi, 40 str) would be enough to fight and tame all animals in head-to-head combat in W8 I'm currently struggling with badgers. I can't hunt anything tougher than foxes without resorting to boat combat or horseback riding.

The new combat system has a lot of sense imo in the way that each fight with an animal ends up with some wounds, but it makes me feel like a glass cannon. And the difficulty in fighting animals seems to make it necessary to utilise such tricks like boat hunting, locking animals. I would welcome some change which would make fighting animals easier as well as making it harder to cheese some weird mechanics. I don't know if they're exploits or if that's intended, I just don't like them.

Ah, I see now. I misread it the first time, my bad.

In any case, just because you're good with the system as it is doesn't mean there aren't things that can be improved. If exploits are used commonly enough, that points to an issue in the larger system as designed. Issues that should be addressed, not handwaved with "git gud"

the point is that unless devs make hunting childishly easy (probably at legacy and catching rabbits there ) people will continue to use exploits so instead of making changes make people ge accustomed to the new system, they said a so they should say b and follow throught with the changes.

Personally I try my best to not exploit.
I did not in W8 and W9 and was fighting with a horse.
now in w10 there are fucking rivers everywhere and my animals keep fleeing.
So fuck it , the game doesn't allow me to play legit so I cheat.
