@Dragonlord You do not solve any of those problems by killing a person though, right? There are other possible game mechanics to combat this kind of griefing than with open PvP including permadeath. Especially when that does not actually solve your problem.

I am aware that being able to resist against people harming you in nontraditional ways is something that needs to be in the game which is why I never agreed with Avu's somewhat extreme stance. Nontheless the game seems to have remained in the same unbalanced state when it comes to fighting it has been in for years. After the initial phase of building and discovering there is always the same 150 bots and gank squad members left playing. One has to wonder why that is.

There is no reason to play late game for anyone besides PvP oriented people or people that love Korean number grind MMOs. Some band aid fixes to incentivize sieges and large scale warfare have done nothing to change that. Especially when sieges are largely impossible and if they succeed you basically wipe out the other sides interest to ever play again. So what is left are some small number raiders roaming the map for cheap kills that they then paint as some great achievement in skill.

Maybe 150 people are enough to pay the rent for 2 developers, I have no idea. I am pretty sure actually reworking all PvP and late game related mechanics from the ground has the potential to attract a larger customer base though. So that might be in their interest.

@Coles There are easy fixes to such exploits. Why do you act like this is an actual problem...

Late game is always going to expire, unless You like to travel the world and try to met a nice people. Unless You develop your main character to be good at everything, etc.

PvP is not either for me a late play as PvP basically begins when You're ready for it... or get assaulted faster than You ready up.

I don't understand many people. You have plenty of stuff to do, but if You drop PvP or PvE or socializing or even doing some projects, stop complaining that "there's nothing to do".

Game is getting all the time updated and I don't even see all people utilizing what we are getting. But well, crying is always cheaper option if there's nothing else.

@Dragonlord They might not be easy or perfect but there are better alternatives to what we have right now. I mean the first thing coming to mind to Coles argument is bounding boxes for bodies. Is there a reason those exist?

@Aceb Ok so the rapid drop in user numbers means actually nothing? Those people are all dillusional? It is a numbers grind. You can put it 10 more food recipes to grind all you want, that is not an actual addition to the game.

We have always played in one of the largest group the game has seen, so plenty of socializing and projects there. All boring as shit after 1 month.

I dunno, personally, after 3 months, is when I start to get "bored".
Having good companions, playing the game without any "exploints" etc. expands it life and fun time.
Althou I never joined any big faction so this is where I can't speak with.

I just play fun and don't see any issues.

but I actually have a plenty of friends who dislike game because of big factions, not because the game is bad or they lack patience or are just casuals.

Dev's Thoughts on PvP
This really sums it up. You can't just not have player conflict. It's a multiplayer game.
“We still, alas, cannot forestall it-
This dreadful ailment's heavy toll;
The spleen is what the English call it,
We call it simply, Russian soul.”

An idea to consider: Tedium, a Feature.

You could have player conflict with different mechanics than the current ones though. That is the whole point. Why do people act like killing eachother is the only way for interaction?

Most people don't act like that. I found a couple of people living near my village and instead of shooing them away I made them work for me (and pay them). The option to kill them is always handy, and it's immersive. But not everyone just kills everyone on sight.

I don't mean in game. I meant as game mechanics to resolve conflict.

I am aware I am some kind of Avu's Sancho Panza here, I don't expect anyone arguing in this thread to actually want and give up on the sweet newbie tears they get from their kills.
