Which would bring us (not only back but worse) to being raided == everything is gone (stuff and characters).

I get why some that miss the rivers of tears and ragequits of the ones they ganked/raided & completely destroyed would want it, but: no, please just no.

It just seems overly harsh for new players whose hearth-fires out in the wild would just be inviting piñatas ripe for the smashing.

Hide hearthfire until you got a claim/wall.

Which should be the next day after you start playing pretty much...

And to be honest this would solve a lot, as alts near localized resources would drop what they collect (when owner doesn't transfer items every spawn, think of salt)

Doubt many people would get red handed/leave vandal for chance of getting some foraged curio or whatever.

There's really little of value to get from new players.

Maybe teaches them to try and play it safe while they're underdevelopped and unprotected. Game is carebear enough as is.

Maybe get in a cave to hide a bit.

Looking out for total scrubs ruins ideas like these and fucks the endgame pretty much.

Because raiding is now NEVER worth it unless you have the motivation because you hate someone.

By the time a raid starts, if you have plenty wood/stone/clay you can just keep making beacons until your claim is down and by that time there's only junk left and rest is in inventories of alts.

Now this ^ killing the endgame vs noob hearthfires being pinatas ( which 99.99% time hold absolute shit) is definitely worth it for sense of purpose that the game now has lost in raiding aspect because alt-vault.

Yeah, exactly ... my main goal with this post. Remove the "magic" of logged out chars inventories and also make the world more "active", with wars and fights, cause yes, raid should be difficult, but should be rewarding too.

So, having not seen any better idea about how to solve this I try to thrown at you a different way to look at this, so maybe we can discuss further and find a solution, so:

What if a "war declaration" is added to the game?
Something like you can declare war at claims, hearthfires, chars ... then you have some time to react, move away, etc ...
So once the "war declaration" is complete the things we were saying could take effect: summon the player in the game once hf destroyed, etc ...

This could replace the drying time of siege weapons also and so on ...

I think a "war declaration" thing could be the possible solution to improve how the system works right now, but it needs further disccussion abut how it should work in every regard, what the cost, etc ...
Let me know if you have some cool ideas about.

P.S. Would be cool also if someone declare war on you, you can pay him with items/stuff to remove the war declaration effect, like a submission thing .... but then the value and quantity of items/stuff needed to remove the war declaration status would increase more and more at the attacker will, untill, eventually, you cannot pay it anymore ... and the fight will start .... cool, I see lot of potential ... maybe it could start asking for 100 FEP worthed food, or 1000 LP worthed curiosities ... and then scaling up.

Given my experience in several worlds of this game: along your argument the playerbase contains a notable amount of people that basically hate everyone.

Would fix so that you could steal from HFs, but somewhat concerned about noobs in the forest.

Wurm solve this by giving to noobs a buff with some benefit at the start of the game that last some days ... but here people would just create alts to store their stuff if being sieged/under attack ... so, a big deal...

I dislike the idea of stealing from heartfires. Prevent people with the heartfire in the claim that is under siege from log out/chartering maybe or something around that idea.

This would open up a big bag of worms that would cause more harm to players then benefits.

What benefit is there to players whose base gets raided to log on and have literally nothing, the people who propose this idea are the ones that only want to take take take. On top of that no one wants to log on to have no armor keys weapons etc and defenseless or during a siege one spy could cripple everything by taking everyone's gear, then we have situations where people will grief by breaking into bases take everything and the keys change the locks and then we end up with people quitting in droves.

This mechanics only purpose is to generate misery and drive people away hence why no other games implement it unless its games like salem where he put it in so people lose their store bought items and had to keep rebuying them. if this is about alt vaulting being a problem then do something about that like limiting the capabilities of free accounts like make them only have 1-2 character slots and if not logged in for a month their hf decays and drops shit and put the focus on people only having main character/accounts then multiple throwaway ones.

and btw i used to play salem and had this shit happen to me where they got in while i was asleep then when i woke up and i read my messages saw that we had a breach and they went straight for our fighters and stripped them so when i logged on it was basically abandon our base because we had no chance to defend it since gl fighting someone naked vs a fully armored.
