To be sure, during September, 408 characters have died, so people keep dying at a rate of about 20/day. Looking at a few random of them, only about half seems to be due to Asphyxiation, the others looking like various combat-related wounds. Also, most of them don't have names that are obvious throw-away-alts. Of course, I don't know exactly how they got to the point of dying so I don't have any stories or explanations, but nevertheless there they are.

Read above

Also, apparently it's possible to double cleave/sting/chop/raven's bite a person (2 people dealing the KO hit at the exact same time) to deal double dmg but I couldn't replicate it in Valhalla

The two at once was a bug, that has been fixed. IIRC

I've been derping around on a newbie character the last couple weeks just to see how all this plays out for a world restart (or new players... whichever view you want to take... already made one post on that a few weeks back). Cave exploration was annoying with the bats, but at least getting a bat wing cape isn't too hard. You can cheese bats at about 10 UA if you don't mind taking a few wounds, and they're not too hard by the time you get to 20 (it's more chasing and catching them). So either way you go... kill 'em all, or just dodge them... it doesn't really interfere too much with early game progression.

Slime is harder than a bat and I posted a picture in announcement topic (https://cdn.jpg.wtf/futurico/de/99/1505 ... 0dbb63.png).
You might not mind taking a few wounds by one bat, now multiply that "few" by 20+ to get just a tiny fraction of the way you are going towards your mining spot.
Even if I was a great fighter, getting through the sheer amount of them would be tedious and unfun.

MagicManICT wrote:Do you play solo or in a village would be the most immediate question to me? If solo, how do you even play without learning the combat system? If you're in a village, there's no need to learn it if you have other villagers around willing to clear this stuff out for you.

I play alone. Sometimes I start with friends, but they lose interest fast. If I can get a couple of tame animals from a friend or neighbor, I can easily get by without hunting.

Need an animal that has the combat stats of a fresh character.
That way its possible to learn without risk of getting seriously wounded.

"Its easy"
Lets see:
1.Create another account.
2.Log on that account.
3.Build beacon.
4.Tab between accounts just so you can get some combat experince.

No wonder people aren't getting into combat. Too many steps and a fresh player to the game would have no idea alting, beacons and spar exist.
You are not wrong but from a new players perspective they will at best ignore combat and play the rest of the game or at worst quit the game before it starts.

Just fight rats/frogs/chickens to learn the layout of the combat window and then move on to ants you plebs
