Lore friendly skin colors in character generation room.

Thoughts on the further development of Haven & Hearth? Feel free to opine!

The game actively encourages players to produce and use opium, it's literally every 3rd quest of some obscure credos. That shit should've gotten it banned on Steam as is, who cares about some nazi scumbaggery that is evidently ever-present in people of a very particular cross-breed of "very young rebel" and "quite a stupid fuck".

As for "skin color" dispute - hard no on other colors. If they get implemented, an option to "turn off variable materials" should also include variable skin colors.

Ofcourse because I'm a big bad racist xenophobe, why else would I object? *sarcasm*

I don't like this idea because it's unnecessary and it does not add anything useful to the game, yet scratches at already worn thin "fleur" of its simple yet charming setting. A part of me cringes every time the devs add variable materials to some stupid everyday object (today we got fucking tanning tubs, "yay"). Houses, claim poles, road signs - that I do get. Cupboards and cheese racks all colors of the rainbow? Fuck no. Hate it.

Customizing a character in this game shall go no further than it is now, adding other "skin colors" will either only serve fleur-devouring vanity of green or blue characters (like all the stupid hats with propellers and cakes and whatever else do, although those at least put food on devs' tables); or - worse yet - adding different-colored hearthlings would be a token submission to social pressure at the expense of the game's setting integrity, which I do not condone.

Interesting.

I don't consider skin tone options a threat to the 'game's setting integrity.'

This is a crosshair in Warthunder. Adding unrealistic skin colors regardless of the game setting is a step in this direction - sheer nonsense of untethered preposterous customization with no control of whatever vices players indulge.

This is a medieval russian serf reimagined by Netflix. Adding "socially required" skin colors regardless of the game setting is a step in this direction - sheer nonsense of political correctness above everything, first of all common sense. And yes, some one will definitely make a slave plantation with black alts - have you seen this community?

I understand that some would argue for both, and a lot would argue for at least one of these steps being beneficial and necessary (because horny trolls). I do not like either and made my opinion known.

I'm very leery of the phrase 'common sense' as it is applied these days, but nevermind that.

One of the two images you posted stands out way more than the other. If you think they're anywhere near equivalent...

...then we disagree. ;)

A black person in medieval russian village would indeed stand out more than an anus crosshair in a modern shooter game. But I merely took two marginal examples to illustrate the two ways I see the character customization could be added: either as an unnecessary obnoxious vanity, or an unnecessary political action. PIck any one and I'd read that 1000 word essay on why Hafen positively needs green and/or black hearthlings besides that :D

Good bait. As I said, we disagree.

Respectfully, I won't waste my time publishing one here. I already know what the community thinks, and I doubt even the best written essay would convince the developers to add a feature like this one. As I wrote previously, I strongly doubt we'll ever get more than 1 skin color, so your precious 'game setting integrity' is safe.

I'd rather hear developer thoughts on the subject.

There's just no point in arguing with some people.

Having said that, I'm interested to read your further thoughts, WowGain.
