This so much... some things that these guys aren't even talking about yet because they probably haven't gotten there that need some massive reworks because the timing is too tedious. Solo, I just don't bother with them anymore. It's easier to trade with those who are willing to while I mass produce other easier things to manage.

Otherwise, the slower progression is one of the things I like.

As far as this being a PvP game, all you should worry about are things you can control: personal safety and defense and your attitude. The first takes early, fast planning and implementation, the latter takes willingness to stay calm and not get antsy... and a realization that if you play an open-world PvP game long enough, you will die. Learn how to deal with it, and get the first one out of the way early so the shock comes and goes quickly. (Less shock when you don't have weeks or months of time invested.)

But to be honest, if you trip over another player at this point, just be polite and don't appear aggressive.

I'm surprised no one mentioned questing yet.
If you are trying to play actively and progress start questing. It will give you lp/xp and reduce hunger so you get to eat more.
Its the best activity if you feel like you are stuck.

disclaimer i only read the first post. i thought this thread would be about giving more rewards the longer you play or something which would be nice.

i didnt realize that it was some pathetic newbie bitching about how hard the game is. seriously? the only thing you really have to fear is other players, but you barely put emphasis on the russians and they had a good point, you were blocking a road.

my advice is to either go back to playing angry birds or something more fitting for people that only want to beat a game as quickly as possible, or join a proper village so they can teach you the dos and donts of haven.

the game is trying in no small part to emulate real life. and waiting for things is a large part of real life. such as cheese and wine aging, and animals growing up. if thats too much for you to handle, there are a million harvest moon games you could play instead.

in case it wasnt obvious, -1. the game doesnt need to be made easier, it merely needs more variety.

If you plan on giving advice, you might as well get off your condescending high horse. Just because you've become more knowledgeable in the game and gotten past your own newbie phase doesn't mean you should be spewing your toxic vitriol on a person who was in the same situation you've been in before. :)

In regards to OP, just have at it for a couple more weeks. The game is meant to be lengthy, and the current world has been running for more than a year and there's no sign of a reset coming soon, so if the game already has your interest, you could take this time to prepare for the next one. Haven has a difficult learning curve compared to most games, but I find it to be a rewarding experience once you get the hang of it, especially when playing with a close group of friends. As it stands, it would be better for you and your group to keep your heads down and be friendly to people you meet. Some people might be open to helping you, and some might just kill you. You'll have to deal with the fact that you can die at any time since this is a PVP game, but unless you go around purposely provoking people, you should be fine.

the only dang thing for noob characters that i feel is bad is the quantity of things that can seriously damage you up to the point that in the day you say "ok, i log off and wait for tomorrow when at least partially recovered".
Questing and even a noob level table helps so much: put in glass items (bottle and glass), wooden ones, earthenware platter, teapot and mug and wicker basket and you'll have a pretty decent hunger lowering table, use taproots and berries that gives only 0.5 hunger for fillers when eating, and when you get near to 80-90 points in ravenous, do a few quests, this will lower hunger a lot and will keep you on the +300% range, so you will eat less and have more time for doing different things.

no i was never a noob. i actually tried to learn how to play every game i have ever tried.

and i have been in his situation before. thats why i find this thread to be so stupid. when i first started i experimented and learned as fast as i could, and after a few days i joined a village so i could learn even more. i quickly learned that the game was trying to emulate real life. thats one of the first things i saw on the forums. so all of the wait times made sense.

so i'm going to keep my "toxic" attitude because im not trying to ruin jorb and loftars game by turning it into something that you can blow through in a week or so before its forgotten in favor of other games.

The game is certainly incredibly complex, unintuitive and difficult but I think that's part of the appeal. For as long as I've been playing I still discover new things, or better ways to do old things. Haven rewards persistence. Dying and having your things stolen or destroyed is inevitable, but you keep what you learnt and can apply that to get back to where you were quicker and more efficiently. New players can take weeks to get their first claim up, but with some effort more experienced players can have it done in a day.
