You basically stated the problems that are making the game too easy for you. It's only natural that the game is going to be easier when playing with others, especially with ones who are stronger and experienced. If you live in an established village then it's also a no-brainer that you're going to have easy access to high quality items you wouldn't be able to get by yourself otherwise.
The beginning/start of the game is already difficult enough, I think. The devs are constantly adding things to make life more painful, what with the recent additions such as bee stings, midge swarms, etc. And of course, the beginning of the game is going to be the most difficult. Everything can kill you. You're a walking sack of shit and you have to be careful because there are numerous things that pose a threat to you. Obviously, as you get stronger, these things will no longer be a threat to you. It's called progression, and whether it be through stats or equipment it's considered progression nonetheless. Another factor is that the current world has lasted for over a year. Qualities are inflated and it's going to be much easier to progress compared to when the world first started. That is simply unavoidable unless you craft everything yourself and never trade with anyone else.
And to address the wounds you've got and how fast your healing, it's simply a matter of how much health you have. Let's take two characters. One has 500HP and the other has 2000HP. Both have access to the same quality of medicine and both get knocked out, receiving wounds relative to their maximum amount of health. Assuming that both receive 50% of their HP in wounds, the one with 500HP needs to heal 250HP, while the one with 2000HP will need to heal 1000HP which is 4x what the other person needs to heal.
Again, I already feel like the beginning of the game is difficult enough. I began playing this world with 2 friends. The three of us had zero experience with new haven. All of us died at least once and I myself was constantly knocked out by all kinds of animals when I started playing. It was difficult to heal wounds because we didn't have access to the resources needed to make some types of medicine, but as we progressed, things got easier and animals were no longer a threat. Progression is a natural mechanic that deosn't need fixing. If something had to be fixed, I'd say it would be the inflated qualities and stats in this world which the devs are most likely going to fix in the next world.
While we're talking about difficulty, I think the issue here is that there aren't many challenges that you can find this late in the game. Early-mid game there's a lot of stuff you can do, but in the late game everything just sort of tapers off. The only thing that's left is the quality/stat race and clearing dungeons I suppose? But even then dungeons can be easily done with no problem by 2-3 people.
I like apple juice.
