I know when I first played Haven and till this world, I lived solo with a rl friend or two except for w7 or 8 for a brief period towards the end. I enjoyed the game playing the life of a scavenging, wandering, opportunistic hermit. The deeper truth of the matter is tho, that I knew any pvp combat was certain death for me because, for some damn reason

, I could not get a decent handle on combat. Then they shrunk the size of the world considerably and I got mad and quit the game for over a year. My way of protesting. There was something about this game (A lot that I could point out, really) that drew me back to it however, and at the beginning of this world despite it's smaller size I said screw it and came back. I knew what their reasons for shrinking the world were and I have to say, it worked for me. Because of the people I met this world I learned vastly more than I did all the others combined. All that being said, there is still something about old Haven that I deeply miss... Exploring... New lands...
Personally, I feel like the game could benefit from something like what OP describes. But the game isn't my vision and I've come to trust that the dev's know their game best.
Just my
.O2... Taste, drink.., like/hate...
