CSPAN wrote:Maybe not Day 1, but my early technique. (I have not played in a long time, so sorry if this is useless information)

What I would do is
-Get 2 boats, ride one, carry one.
-Find a skinny part of shallow water.
-Aggro something and bring it to spot
-Once in position, place extra boat behind it.
-Shoot from boat
-When it tries to flee, it has nowhere to go.
-Keep shooting
-Dead

And loot it in shallow water?

Whatever, don't think Jorb will improve pathfinding/make bears able to destroy boats or whatever just for the first week. He will deny us the smart moves forever. And if the game does reward unhappy grind and not curiosity, imagination, intelligence of the player, then only mindless grinders will enjoy it and community will shrink and deteriorate.

Good Jorb, Job!

As a rule of thumb, everything that makes life easyer and less boring/grinding for players is a great idea. Everything that makes the game harder is crap coming from sadistic tendencies of Jorbtar helped by the few players with the same kind of disorders.

Shooting bats with bow. Almost no skills or rare items required. Provides plenty of free combat discoveries and bat capes materials

1. Animals should destroy everything, they are killed during early game mainly because you can block the animal and prevent it from hitting you.
Blocking can be done for example with:
Water, ridges. I have used both of these methods and they work really well.

There are many many ways of doing this but here is one:
For example:
1. Lure the animal to some place with water nearby by using alts or something
2. Aim for the animal with a bow from some distance
3. Shoot at the animal
4. Jump into boat, go away, get de-aggro from the animal
5. Repeat until its dead

You can do same with ridges sometimes. Like shoot the animal, jump off from ridge. It may even fail to pathfind to you if the ridge is large enough.

Don't disable spawning of animals. I'd rather have people bug-hunt them than have them removed. What is point of removing them? Bears are meant to be a danger in the forest that you must watch out especially in the early game etc.

Some solutions, none of them are good as they have some disadvantages as well:
Hardcap everything that you get from butchering, so there is less advantage from killing mammoths etc. early game with exploits.
If you kill animal in shallow water, animal should sink or something so you can not get any butchered stuff from it.
Make animals able to walk through ridges or completely prevent players from climbing them.
AOE Strikes to all animals.
I am not exactly sure what objects animals can already destroy, but they should be able to destroy all kinds of objects, except maybe palis/brickwalls.

Animals must be more dangerous and some of them rare and hard to find. Plus it will be great to add a little roguelike feature when a random things happens - super rare animal spawn or hardcore big quality animal with so much health and etc. We need more jazz in gameplay, like Jorb says! :D

There is already super ant boss and from my experience some moose are stronger than others

additional ideas to previous post as It accidentally came early:

If an animal kills any character, lower quality of products that you get from the animal(depending on the stats of the character that it killed, less stats=more quality penalty), or make it completely impossible to get anything off the animal when you butcher it, if it has killed somebody. This would make using alts to lure animals etc. more difficult or impossible.

Animals should have passive counter-strikes for players. When a player hits an animal with melee attack, the animal hits back always. This would make it difficult to kill animals in close combat in early game by some abuses.

Animals should be able to swim, all of them, faster than boats of course. As many exploits use boats.

Completely disable archery from boats. (They wobble too much anyway with waves, center of mass and all!) This would fix many things

Add the mechanic from salem or something similar: Bears should have large range AOE attacks, like bear roars and your character loses hp.

Caves and houses... Preventing the player completely from going in/out of them when aggroed by animal would work to prevent abuse at least. Other option is to make the animal follow you to caves and houses.

It is amusing that about every second post there contain some (mostly, dumb) idea on how to solve the problem, when the solution was not even asked about.
As for methods of cheesing animals I think all main ones were already listed. However I want to ask what animals are considered fit for "no business killing on day one"? About bear level and stronger or maybe, say, boars are also included?

Use horse to kite the shit out of it. Go somewhere it can't path to you but you can still attack it from. Go in and out of caves/houses. Use boats. All work pretty well.
