That’s basically exactly what I meant
Loftar is saying that, say there are 6 moves you can learn from an animal. There is always a 1/6 chance you will recieve any specific move, however the chance to learn a move in general slowly diminishes as you fight the same animal over and over.

Maybe read again what you wrote, Your HighIQness?

Nah

Edit: capitalized the key words for you.

I don’t think you’re understanding. Say an ant has five possible moves to learn, and intially has a 10% chance to drop a move at all. (Not the actual stats afaik, just speaking hypothetically). Therefore on your first ant you have a 2% chance of discovering take aim (.2*.1=.02). If after killing 10 ants the possibility of recieving any move decreases to 1%, then you have a 0.2% chance of getting take aim because as loftar said the chance of receiving any specific move doesn’t decrease, just the chance you get a move at all

So it does matter if you kill ant after ant, since after a while ants won’t be giving you very many moves at all.
But yeah call me highIQness or whatever for understanding this simple shit

I read:

loftar wrote:you remain just as likely to learn that particular thing you're looking for as you were from the outset.

As what you are quoting is because you already got the move. You can't have more than five left hooks, so if RNG says you'd get a left hook from the ant you just killed you get nothing. Therefore overall chances of getting anything are going down. Chances of getting something particular are staying the same. That is an interpretation, of course, and might be wrong. But it is at least consistent with the whole statement of loftar, not just with a part of it.

I'm unhappy in general with having to wade knee deep through dead animals to 'discover' the moves.

Are people intentionally ignoring the mechanic that was added to remedy this?
What a non issue to complain about.

I mean... if you're playing solo, then I can understand some frustration at the mechanics. If you have a group of hunters... I'm sure you have enough spare hides around for parchment. The downside is the space in your study and time it takes to learn more advanced uses of a move.

The other side of this: someone has to learn the moves in the first place.
