They do like 2 hhp wound and are generally quite harmless.
Maybe a bit annoying, but that just adds to the immersion.

To alts, they deal 2 HHP damage and are quite harmless. To players who do multiple things on their main, they either deal -10 AGI and -10 STR per bite or prevent you from raiding ant hills and beehives and picking up stinging nettles often for hours. (If you've already done two of those, you instantly get the -10 AGI/-10 STR per bite.)

Midges are fucking hilarious. They should attack like every other creature, not deal damage in such random manner. There was midge waiting for me on a shore, i left boat onto them and wow lost -20 hhp in second. Very fun feature.

If you dare to complain about midges but have not experienced their 10HHP damage bites per tick due to allergic reaction yet then you have no right...

Regular midges are so irrelevant compared to this haha.

the ironic part is I'll be actively doing things around the claim and midges will show up out of nowhere so instead I go inside the cabin and afk stand there for 10 or 15 minutes until they leave. so they are having the exact opposite impact they are supposed to. unless they are just meant to be annoying I guess then cheers they are working great
i guess they never miss huh

Same, I've straight up logged out before to avoid midges.

Midges may be annoying, but their minor annoyance helps make the game more interesting.

Stuff like this is just unreal. If you just ruin away for 30-45 seconds, and then teleport to you hearth they will not follow you. If you aren't at risk of an allergic reaction, you can just tank the bites.

I was chasing a moose one time, and ran out of stamina in a swamp. I lost 75% of my hhp to midges, then got a concussion to boot. Midges are an awesome addition.

Midges only spawn in certain biomes that I've seen. I quit settling those places. It's one thing to have them chase you when out hunting or foraging. Dealing with them farming or doing "camp work" is just terrible.

I'm always at risk of an allergic reaction. I want to be able to raid bee hives and ant hills and pick up nettles. Midge bites cannot be cured in any way except by waiting for ages.

Really? I encounter them frequently in both grassland and forests in addition to swamps. The only places I haven't seen them in are mountains and caves. Actually I think I've been harassed by them on mountain terrain as well. Fuck midges.

Midges are like all other animals. They can wander in from outside. I could be wrong, too. My experience isn't necessarily the rule.

No, that's probably it. But it does mean midges are EVERYWHERE, regardless of what biome you're on.
