This. We're playing a game, not a simulator. I'm in favor of getting rid of "magical transportation," but only if we have smart solutions to enable us to play a game, not travel for hours on end.

Put those little bastards that make you run faster over land on the water, scaled up in size, time, and effectiveness, and have them effect vehicles!

Please skip fallacies like claiming it's only one deluded guy asking for this when you didn't check if there aren't actually more, that even might have some good arguments for their view.

Please read through viewtopic.php?f=48&t=59271 to realize that he (as several do, for different reasons, among these me) wants to get rid of teleportation, not of roads in general and also not by simply cutting it out but through replacing it with mechanics that allow for faster travel (but not instant and not disconnected from the world like teleporting is) that is more convenient then clicking repeatedly on the ground.

I can support your raw idea of having currents in the water that would speed up travel along them, but having them change often would just replace your waiting to reach B from A with locating the current current to speed you up - while maybe fun the first times it might bet boring quickly.
