They did this. it ran for a while... it eventually failed or didn't provide any more useful feedback than the general community. i'm not sure which... or maybe it was some other reason. No matter the reason, the important point was that they closed it.

I define “spruce caps” as players who do not fully understand the game and how it is MOST efficiently played.

Most efficient way to play the game is to just bot everything.

i dont think anyone wants noobs in their group

Well, they could pose as noobish players and try to run simple villages. That alone should teach them a lot. Playing with lots of people and playing as hermits is very different after all..

Around nine years ago. Idea was to have it as a filter to cut through the noise of the general forum, which worked quite well for a good while as the discussions there were actual discussions.

This. And apart from that my experience is that the ones who know how to play the game most efficiently quite often don't care about the big picture but are just busy to push for changes that further their agenda of increasing their personal advantage.

I don’t doubt it at all. Most of these pvp players have no concept of the time and effort that goes in to creating the industry that supplies them so they can do what they do. The truth is though, we need each other. Villages need fighters that are willing to lay down their lives in defense of their home and fighters need the industry workers in order to continuously supply with and improve gear, curiosities, etc.

What annoys me most are the people who are so flippant towards others about their position in the game. If you like to pvp often that’s cool but don’t act like you know something I don’t when it comes to a majority of the mechanics and don’t act like some of us are lesser players because we lack the time to be as competitive. We all know how most things generally work and we’re all trying our best to improve the game in the ways we see most reasonable.

They were called the Inner Party. And then the devs decided it would be a good idea to invite Thundercat, the first LS of the first AD, an all Russian outfit who played the game exactly the way the cheating fucks who do it world after world still do: win at any cost. They even resorted to DDOSing and crashing the server (no I kid you not). That was World 3, 2010, so understand how many of these cheating/abusing cycles we've been through and how ineffectively they have been handled time after time that it is still worth the risk today.

Thundercat sought, as these guys still do, to win first and improving the game second and the IP just became a gold mine of info for him and AD of then.

I'm not for a moment saying he is the reason why the Inner Party fell apart and you should also know that I wasn't a member and am regurgitating what I was informed by a number of IP members at the time, and over time. They all made the same comment though that the real shit started when Thundercat got invited.

They weren't the only ones using such position to gain knowledge, and several valuable players who should have been members were never invited, but I understand some also never accepted the invitation.
